I’m on the road today, so I’ll keep this short. After cashing in on Jeffrey Springs’ over 4.5 K’s Friday night, we’re backing another over with Rays right-handed starter Corey Kluber Saturday.

Kluber might not be the same strikeout pitcher he was before the injuries, but he’s displaying elite control with a career best 3.2% BB%. His BB% ranks in the 99th percentile in all of baseball. While Kluber’s 21% K% is one of the lowest marks he’s posted in his career, his 11.7% swinging-strike percentage isn’t far off from his 12.5% career average.  The righty’s chase rate sits in the 95th percentile, it’s clear he’s still able to generate swings and misses.

The Bronx Bombers have been struggling at the dish since early August, as Springs and the Rays staff shut the Yanks out Friday night. Not only have the Yankees had trouble putting up runs, but they enter Saturday’s matchup in St. Pete with the fourth-highest K% vs right-handed pitchers since Aug. 1 at 25.3%.
