The National League is full of contenders, and with these great teams comes a handful of tremendous players. So while it may seem like Paul Goldschmidt has a hold on the NL MVP award, there’s quite a few others who will be gaining on him in the second half. Let’s take a look at who could make a late push up the odds board.

Who will win National League MVP?

Here are the odds for 2022 National League MVP, per DraftKings Sportsbook.

Why is Paul Goldschmidt the Favorite for NL MVP?

Paul Goldschmidt was in the section for “NL MVP contenders” earlier in the season. When he was in that section of this piece, his odds were +2200. That value is long gone now as the Cardinals first baseman has been on an absolute tear this season. He’ll start the second half hitting .330 with 20 home runs and 70 RBIs.

His resurgent season has vaulted the Cardinals into the thick of a pennant race and if he keeps it up, St. Louis will be a team to watch come October.

NL MVP Contenders

Freddie Freeman, Los Angeles Dodgers (+1400)

Freddie Freeman has been worth every penny the Dodgers paid him this past offseason. He’s hitting .321 with 13 homers and has 59 RBIs right in the middle of the best lineup in the National League. He even turned it up a notch the last few weeks as he’s hitting .407 with a 1.177 OPS in July. The Dodgers are going to be a World Series contender and Freeman will be one of the reasons they get there.

Austin Riley, Atlanta Braves (+1400)

It is time Austin Riley gets some praise. The 25-year-old third baseman was one of the reason the Braves turned it around this season and are hot on the tails of the New York Mets in the NL East. He’s hitting .285 with 27 home runs and batted in 61 runs. Just like Freeman, Riley has got hot as the weather did. He’s hitting .400 in the month of July with nine homers and a 1.311 OPS.

How to Bet on NL MVP odds

Step 1: Set up a sports betting account

Setting up a sportsbook account is a simple process, and it would be wise to do so on as many as possible. All they need is some basic information, and then you’ll be ready to place your first wager in no time. It is essential to have multiple accounts to shop for odds and take advantage of all the free money books like to hand out to new users.

Step 2: Deposit money into your account

Essentially every book will have some kind of deposit bonus for you after you sign up. So be sure to weigh your options once your account is made.

Step 3: Make an NL MVP Futures Bet

NL MVP odds are their juiciest before the season, so it is ideal to get them while the value is at its highest. So say you like Trea Turner to take home the NL MVP award this year. A winning bet placed now would line your pocket nicely as it would turn $100 into $1500.
