College basketball season is in full swing, which means it’s time to search for betting edges on the hardwood.

Below, you’ll find FTN’s college basketball power rankings for the 2024-2025 season. These will be updated every week after games, adjusting for results, news and injuries. We can use these ratings to create a point spread between any two teams in the country on a neutral court. Just subtract the lower team’s rating from the higher-ranked team’s rating. If you compare that number to the spread of a particular game, you can find situations where FTN identifies a betting edge. We will also keep track of teams that are trending up or down, helping to further identify value compared to the public’s perception on media polls.

Here is the latest iteration of the FTN College Basketball Power Rankings for the 2024-2025 season!

Key Takeaways

  • The Houston Cougars remain in the top spot in the FTN CBB Power Rankings after two Big 12 wins over Oklahoma State and Colorado. The Cougars still rank third overall in KenPom, including third-best in adjusted defensive efficiency. They are 9-1 in the Big 12, tied with Arizona. Since joining the conference prior to last season, the Cougars are an astounding 26-4 against Big 12 opponents. All of this while forward Emanuel Sharp has missed the last two games nursing a foot injury.
  • Here comes Auburn. The Tigers suffered their first SEC loss at home to Florida on Saturday. Regardless, they have the profile of a true title contender. The Tigers are 21-2 overall and 9-1 in the SEC and rank first overall in adjusted offensive efficiency per KenPom.
  • Now is the time to buy Iowa State. The Cyclones ended a three-game losing streak with a 30-point home blowout of TCU. Iowa State is elite defensively and weathered the storm without starting forward Milan Momcilovic due to a hand injury. They are fifth overall in our FTN Power rankings, rising three spots from last week. All great teams go through a slide, and the Cyclones have the talent, coaching and unique style to fit the exact archetype of the 2019 Virginia Cavaliers.
  • UCLA is our biggest riser this week, having won seven-straight games since a 75-68 loss at Rutgers. The Bruins have clawed their way back to 6-6 against Quad I opponents and rose 11 spots to No. 15 overall in our FTN Power Rankings.
  • The biggest faller of the week? The Marquette Golden Eagles. Head coach Shaka Smart’s team fell nine spots to No. 19 overall and has lost three straight conference games. They host two winnable home games against DePaul and Seton Hall this week, hopeful to get back on track.
