Men’s College Basketball 2021-2022 Season Preview: TCU Horned Frogs

The Big 12 had a successful year in men’s college basketball in 2020 as the Baylor Bears closed out the season as the national champs. It was a dominant run, and they truly were the best team in college basketball.

The conference comes into the new year looking strong from top to bottom, but there was some drama in the offseason with a few teams planning to leave for the SEC. Texas and Oklahoma will be headed to the SEC in the near future, but for this year at least it’ll be business as usual.

Like many other conferences around the country, Big 12 teams took advantage of the expanded transfer portal and loaded up with all sorts of new faces. Figuring out rotations will be especially important for this group so let’s dive in and take our best crack at deciphering the best players for each squad.

TCU Horned Frogs Outlook for 2021-2022

Mike Miles is a huge breakout candidate and one I expect to be a 20 PPG scorer. He will surely absorb most if not all of RJ Nembhard’s usage. I’m a big fan of Shahada Wells and think he fits in nicely next to Miles as an exciting backcourt with lots of scoring potential. He averaged almost 17 PPG while at UT-Arlington. Emanuel Millers was a 16 and 8 guy while at Texas A&M so don’t sleep on his potential production this season. Xavier Cork (12.7 PPG/6.1 RPG), Maxwell Evans (8.5 PPG), Damion Baugh (3.4 PPG) and JaKobe Coles (6.3 PPG) will all be in the rotation and have varying levels of DFS viability.

Summary

This team doesn’t get a lot of pub, but they have a ton of solid DFS options and will fly under the radar in the initial part of the season. Miles, Miller and Wells should put up the kind of numbers that will make them fantasy staples. Xavier Cork is the sneaky option and will win us a tournament at some point this year.
