Brandon Lowe Crushes Eighth Home Run

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe went 3-for-5 with a walk, three runs and a solo home run in Thursday's victory versus the Kansas City Royals. Lowe has missed some time this season with injuries, but has shown the power he has in the past when healthy. Lowe's 421-foot home run in the top of the sixth inning would be his eighth of the season. In addition to his power, Lowe has driven in 25 runs with a .229 batting average in 131 at-bats. The veteran will help managers with power out of the second base position, but at the cost of a sunken batting average. Depending what managers are searching for, Lowe makes for a fine option in deeper mixed leagues.

Brandon Lowe Continues To Show Power

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe went 2-for-4 with a walk and solo home run in Tuesday's victory versus the Kansas City Royals. Lowe took former teammate Nick Anderson deep in the top of the ninth inning to add an insurance run with his seventh homer of the season. The veteran has dealt with injuries this season, but he has been solid when healthy. On the season, Lowe is now hitting .220 with seven homers and 24 RBI in 123 at-bats. Lowe isn't going to help managers in the batting average department, but his power makes him a solid option in mixed leagues at a position that isn't the deepest.

Brandon Lowe Returns To Starting Lineup

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (toe) is back in the starting lineup on Saturday afternoon and will serve as the designated hitter and bat second. Lowe has been out of the lineup for the past five straight games but did come in as a pinch-hitter on Friday evening, which suggested he should return on Saturday. The 29-year-old has posted a poor .216/.313/.414 line with five home runs through 36 games this season. However, before the injury, Lowe was beginning to find his footing with a much-improved .254/.324/.476 slash line with four home runs through June. Lowe is worth a look in DFS this afternoon as he will have prime scoring opportunities batting at the top of the Rays lineup but does have a tougher matchup in Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin, who holds a 2.35 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in his past four starts.
