River Cracraft Activated From Injured Reserve

The Miami Dolphins activated wide receiver River Cracraft (shoulder) off Injured Reserve before their Monday night game against the Los Angeles Rams and also signed defensive tackle Neil Farrell to the active 53-man roster and placed offensive lineman Austin Jackson (knee) on IR. Cracraft will be making his 2024 debut on Monday night against the Rams, although he's expected to have a minimal role on offense, even if No. 1 wideout Tyreek Hill (wrist) isn't cleared to play. It remains to be seen if Cracraft's activation means that the Dolphins are preparing to be without Hill for this primetime contest. The 30-year-old Cracraft can remain on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues. In his two years with Miami in 2022 and 2023, he caught 18 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns in 21 games (one start).UPDATE: Cracraft is not active for Thursday's game against the Rams.

River Cracraft Expected To Miss Time With Injury

Miami Dolphins wide receiver River Cracraft (upper body) is sidelined with an upper-body injury and is expected to miss some time in the regular season. Cracraft had a strong summer in his third season with Miami and seemed likely to start as the third receiver behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, especially with Odell Beckham Jr. (undisclosed) still on the Physically Unable to Perform list. However, Cracraft's injury raises the possibility that he could be placed on Injured Reserve when the Dolphins finalize their 53-man roster. By Aug. 27, the Dolphins will have three options for handling Cracraft: Keep him on the 53-man roster until he recovers, initially include him on the roster and then place him on IR on Aug. 28, or put him on IR immediately, which would count as one of the two IR moves allowed on cutdown day under new NFL rules. This situation simplifies the roster decisions and opens up a spot for Erik Ezukanma, who had an impressive preseason debut against Washington. If the Dolphins keep six wide receivers, Ezukanma could join Hill, Waddle, Beckham, Braxton Berrios, and rookie Malik Washington, who will secure a spot on the roster. With these receiver injuries, Hill and Waddle will likely see even more targets, boosting Hill's value as the top overall pick in redraft leagues.

River Cracraft Catches Touchdown Saturday

Miami Dolphins wide receiver River Cracraft caught both of his targets for 29 yards and one touchdown in Saturday night's 13-6 win against the Washington Commanders. With Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill getting the night off, Cracraft was in with the starters on Saturday. Although it was just one drive, he made it count. The journeyman wideout was the recipient of Tua Tagovailoa's first pass of the night -- a quick-hitter that Cracraft took 16 yards. He was also the recipient of Tagovailoa's last throw. This one took place on a 4th-and-1 inside the Commanders' 15-yard line -- a perfectly placed ball where only the tight end could get it in the back of the end zone. We likely see him suit up next Friday when the Dolphins travel to Tampa Bay to square up against the Buccaneers in their final dress rehearsal before the regular season. Cracraft is firmly entrenched behind Waddle, Hill, and Odell Beckham Jr. (undisclosed) in the pass-catching pecking order. However, he would instantly become intriguing if, for whatever reason, one of the players mentioned above missed any time. He's the WR142 in Yahoo! ADP.
