The San Francisco 49ers addressed their offensive line in a big way overnight Tuesday night, re-signing Trent Williams and bringing in Alex Mack, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Williams, 32, spent 2020 with the 49ers after sitting out 2019 with Washington. He’s made eight straight Pro Bowls in seasons he’s been active dating back to 2012.

The 35-year-old Mack joins the 49ers after spending the last five years with the Falcons. He played with the Browns his first seven seasons. He’s made six Pro Bowls.

49ers double-dip at OL, add Trent Williams and Alex Mack back-to-back

Fantasy slant: Williams stays in the Bay Area after becoming the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history. Williams, 32, is still playing at an All-Pro level after ranking first in run blocking and tenth in pass blocking per PFF last season. It's only fitting that Williams will likely play the remainder of his career under Kyle Shanahan after being drafted by his father Mike in 2010. The 49ers will again feature one of the NFL's best run games this season, with Williams paving the way.

Mack makes his way to the 49ers after playing under Kyle Shanahan in previous stops with the Browns and Falcons. Mack is coming off another solid season after allowing only one sack on 633 pass-blocking snaps and ranking 18th among all centers in pass protection per PFF. — Derek Brown
