Bank Shot: NBA GPP advice for March 13

This article will cover my NBA GPP plays for the day. I rely heavily on matchups, pace or game, and minutes on the floor. This combination has been successful in the past

It is extremely important to keep up with the NBA news up until lock. If you are new to NBA DFS, news coming out of players not playing can come out right before each game starts. Be sure to check in the FTN discord throughout the night or keep up with the news yourself on Twitter.

Point guard

With so many great options here tonight, it seems like a spot you want to spend up even though we do have a couple of quality spend-down options. Nailing the right top two players will get you 90+ fantasy points at the position today, which is what I want.

Damian LillardHe is cheaper than Luka tonight and I have them projected within 3 points of each other. While both matchups are good for the top spend-ups at PG, I prefer targeting the Wolves (as opposed to the Nuggets) with Dame. Neither defense is good in this game and Vegas is “predicting” a close matchup with the Wolves being favored by -3. On a slate with a couple of games that carry legit blowout concern, Dame feels safe and carries the upside we are looking for in GPPs.

Kyle Lowry: People may be turned off by his last outing, gaining only 33 fantasy point,  but they may not remember that while Lowry started the first half extremely poorly, he gained steam in the second and salvaged decent enough game to not kill our lineups. Lowry and Norman Powell will again be running the offense tonight with big pieces like Fred VanVleet, OG and Siakam sitting again. Lowry is going to 40+.

Pivots: LaMelo Ball, De'Aaron Fox, Trae YoungLuka DoncicRussell Westbrook (if Beal out)

Cheap Pivots: Jaylen NowellRicky RubioSaben Lee

ConditionalJamal Murray if Nikola Jokic is out.

Shooting guard

Anthony Edwards: Edwards is close to lock territory for me. With the injuries the Wolves are dealing with, he saw 38 minutes with a more difficult defense in New Orleans than the last outing. This Saturday he faces the Blazers in a game with a 234-game total. The Wolves are letting their first overall pick in the draft attempt to put the team on his back giving him the full green light. He is only $6,500 on Fanduel.

Buddy Hield: I can’t ignore the playing time he has been seeing recently (38 minutes last game). Tyrese Haliburton is back, but the Kings are not giving their talented asset full run again yet. Hield should see 35+ minutes against the Hawks tonight. In all four of his last starts, he has eclipsed 20 real points and broken 40 fantasy points in three of the four.

Note: Caris LeVert — FanDuel priced him at only $3,900. If we hear he is getting 20+ I have zero problems with playing him. Even with minutes in the high teens, I doubt he goes out and delivers a complete dud in his team debut. He is extremely risky.

Small forward

Norman Powell: I am just going to keep riding the usage wave and hope everyone else gets scared.

Gordon Hayward: The injured players on The Raptors have of course hurt their already poor defense. Hayward had some bad luck in his 38 minutes last game, but is in a nice bounce-back spot here.

It looks like I am going to have a lot of Raptors (which probably means I should have at least one Hornet), but they are all in great spots. Boucher is a big PPM producer and is providing an exception floor when he gets time on the court. He is averaging 32 minutes the last two games which is more than enough for him to pay off his price tag

Center rankings

  1. Aron Baynes: He is getting close to thirty minutes with all the Raptors injuries. He is $600 cheaper on FanDuel tonight (and basically min price) so I prefer him there to help spend up on other positions. You do not need much from him at the price tag. He is looking to be more popular tonight than any other slate this year so if you want to fade him due to ownership that’s understandable.
  2. Clint Capela: His minutes were a somewhat surprising concern last game after starting very hot. With the coaching change Hawks are now playing their rookie center a handful of minutes and have Gallinari and Bogdanovic healthy which appears to have scaled Capela just a few minutes. The matchup against the Kings is hard to ignore even if he were to get under 30 minutes again. If he gets extra run 3-4 minutes he has potential for a ceiling game tonight, if he doesn’t I still think we get 40 fantasy points out of him.
  3. Mason Plumlee: GPP only for me
  4. Karl-Anthony Towns
