San Francisco Giants @ Chicago Cubs

Giants -110, Cubs -110, O/U 9 (DraftKings Sportsbook)
SP: John Brebbia (R) vs. Wade Miley (L)

On tonight’s edition of Sunday Night Baseball, the San Francisco Giants and the Chicago Cubs face off for the rubber match of a three-game series. The Cubs won the first game 4-2, and the Giants won last night 5-2 behind a great start from Logan Webb. The Giants lead the season series 4-2 against the Cubs.

Chicago has no shot of making the postseason, but the Giants have hope. Their hopes may be hanging by a thread, but they still exist. The Giants are 10.5 games behind the Padres for the final wild-card spot in the National League. In order for the Giants to make it, their goal is simple. They must win, win and win some more.

San Francisco is 12-18 in their last 30 games, which does not inspire confidence for a team looking to make up a lot of ground this late into the season. The Cubs, who have struggled for most of the 2022 season, seem like they’ve thrown in the towel. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games, and it is only a matter of time until they are officially eliminated.

Considering how bad the Giants and Cubs have both been, I am not shocked to see this matchup priced at -110 each way. The Cubs have been a better team on the road this season, while the Giants have been significantly worse on the road.

John Brebbia will take the mound for the Giants at Wrigley, and tonight will be a bullpen exercise for the Giants. This will be Brebbia’s fifth start of the season, and in his last start, he threw just one inning. The Giants bullpen has a 4.24 team ERA this season, which is not great for this matchup.

Lefty Wade Miley will make the start for the Cubs at home. Miley has dealt with injuries all season long, and this will be just his sixth start of 2022. In his last start, Miley allowed two runs on three hits in four innings at home against the Reds.

Considering the Giants bullpen is weak, and Miley has limited starts this season, it is also no shock to see the total sitting at nine runs. I have this total priced at O/U 9.3 -110, so there is value betting over 9 at +100. While these teams may not reach the playoffs this season, they can still accumulate runs, so I love the over in this spot.

Bet: Over 9 +100
