Be sure to check out Mean Streets for daily picks and Dangle Bet Celly for full NHL breakdowns each Tuesday and Thursday.

Season Record: 34-25, +10.04 (Bonus not included in record)

I still like my bonus bets even though I don’t include them in the official record. The reason I list three official picks is because I don’t want to confuse anyone with too many picks. I also feel strong about my bonus picks but they are longer shots. If you’re looking for more be sure to check out our Pick Tracker

The Best NHL Prop Bets

Alex Ovechkin Over 4.5 SOG

(-114, Caesars)

Ovechkin, Nathan MacKinnon and David Pastrnak are the only players I consider taking the over when it comes to their 4.5 NHL shot props. I like MacKinnon as well here, but I’m leading with Ovechkin. The Capitals’ captain enters Thursday’s game with the Blue Jackets on a three-game goal streak in which he has six goals, and 18 shots on net. He’s racked up at least four shots on goal in five of his past six games, and over those six games he has four multipoint performances. I think he’ll continue his scoring streak as Columbus ranks second in shot attempts and shots allowed, and first in goals against at 5v5/60, according to Natural Stat Trick. I think there’s better value on his assist or two-point prop rather than taking him to score. Washington has the second-highest team implied total on the slate, so expect some offense.

Bonus

Sebastian Aho Over 2.5 SOG

(-128, Caesars)

Aho has cleared 2.5 shots on goal in three of five games since he returned to the lineup. He has at least two shots in each of those five games and 16 total. He played 15 and 17 minutes in his first two games, compared to 20 and 19 in his last two. He has three points and 11 shots on goal in his last three games. Over the last four weeks of the season, the Preds rank third in shot attempts allowed and fifth in shots surrendered at 5v5/60. On the flip side, the Hurricanes rank first in shot attempts and shots on goal over the same time span.

There are a couple props I like from this game as you’ll see below.

Bonus

Clayton Keller Over 2.5 SOG

(+120, BetRivers)

Keller is my favorite plus-money NHL shot prop on the slate. The winger has only cleared in five of his past nine games, but he’s in a good spot here. The Flyers rank inside the top 10 in shot attempts and shots allowed at 5v5/60, and Keller has excelled in good matchups this season. He failed to get over 2 shots against Tampa Bay, Toronto and Colorado last week, but he had five shots against Philly on Dec. 11, and it was the start of a run, in which he had at least three shots in five of six games. He had five against the Islanders, four against the Sabres and the Canadiens. On top of that, Keller is averaging 22 minutes per game over his last three weeks (at least 23 in back-to-back games), and he could get a few more minutes on the power play as the Flyers rank fifth in penalties taken.

I shared a few other NHL props on Thursday’s episode of Mean Streets:
