We’re just about 25% through the NFL regular season and the Hall of Fantasy league continues to truck along with some of the best fantasy football analysts and players in the business.

If you are unfamiliar with the league, they do a fantastic job of laying everything out clearly and concisely on their homepage:

“The HOFL consists of 10 Football Franchises representing key markets throughout the U.S. Teams will be managed by a dedicated Front Office of fantasy experts who will compete on behalf of their respective Stakeholders.”

For more information, I wrote up the ins and outs of the entire league, including who is involved. You can read it here.

In regards to this piece, in particular, this will be a weekly piece highlighting where things stand in the league and a matchup to look forward to in the upcoming week.

Stake Rankings

The biggest draw to the HOFL is a fan’s ability to stake a team and have skin in the game without needing to keep up with the day-to-day management. Below is a reminder as to where teams ranked heading into the season in terms of the total stake, with the Vegas Pocket Kings being the league leaders.

Stake Rank Team (GM)
1 Vegas Pocket Kings (Jeff Mans)
2 Ohio GOATS (Michael Fabiano & Bob Harris)
3 NY Bodega Cats (Scott Engel & Raphael Rabe)
4 LA Sidekicks (Christopher Harris)
5 Chicago Hogmollies (Jeff Ratcliffe)
6 Texas Y’allers (Sigmund Bloom & Joe Bryant)
7 Boston Barflies (John Paulsen & Jennifer Eakins)
8 Atlanta Hot Wings (Graham Barfield & Joe Dolan)
9 Seattle Haze (Melissa Jacobs & Pat Fitzmaurice)
10 Philly Powderkegs (Adam Caplan)

Week 4’s matchup of the week featured FTN’s own Jeff Ratcliffe and his Chicago Hogmollies taking on the LA Sidekicks, led by Bob Harris. The former was hoping to move to 3-1, while the latter was looking to crawl back to .500 on the season.

The entire box score is below.

Week 4 Recap – Hall of Fantasy League

While the matchup was projected to be close ahead of the games, it didn’t end as many expected. Ratcliffe moved to 3-1-0 on the season with a commanding 189.52 to 149.96 victory over Harris and the Sidekicks.

To say that Ratcliffe’s receivers had a great week would be a gross understatement, as he topped 80 combined points between Deebo Samuel and Tyreek Hill alone, not giving Harris’ team much of a chance from the start. On the flip side, getting duds from D’Andre Swift (6.9 points) and Travis Kelce (4.3) ended up being a nail in the coffin for Harris’ shot at a 2-2 start to the season.

After their matchup, the Chicago Hogmollies sit at 3-1-0 while the LA Sidekick dropped to 1-3-0. Below is a snapshot of how the entire league is shaking out:

Record Team Points Scored FAAB
4-0-0 Atlanta Hotwings 652 $49
3-1-0 Chicago Hogmollies 707 $70
2-2-0 Ohio GOATS 686 $30
2-2-0 NY Bodega Cats 651 $68
2-2-0 Seattle Haze 620 $83
2-2-0 Boston Barflies 604 $4
2-2-0 Vegas Pocket Kings 593 $58
1-3-0 LA Sidekicks 596 $71
1-3-0 Philly Powderkegs 533 $44
1-3-0 Texas Y’allers 531 $70

The league was tight last week and it only got tighter ahead of Week 5, as five teams are knotted at 2-2-0 with the three teams behind them only one game back of a potential playoff spot. It’s still extremely early, so the league could be flipped upside down in a matter of weeks.

Week 5 provides yet another chance for teams to separate themselves from the pack and also an opportunity for the Hotwings to move to a league-leading 5-0 to keep their perfect record in tact.

Matchup of the Week – Week 5 – Hall of Fantasy League

With so many teams knotted at 2-2, two teams in the midst of that pack looking to separate themselves are the Boston Barflies and the Ohio GOATs. The GOATs currently sit at third overall despite the 2-2 record, as their overall points on the season lead the Barflies by 84 points.

Desperate to gain some momentum and start a winning streak, the matchup is outlined below with Boston listed on the left.

The projections have the GOATs favored by more than 10 points and I have a hard time disagreeing with this projection, as they feel like the better team from top to bottom. I fully expect them to move to 3-2-0 and gain some ground in the standings in Week 5.

Week 5 Overview – Hall of Fantasy League

Looking at the league as a whole, below is a preview of the other Week 5 matchups outside of the matchup of the week.

With so much stake on the line, every week counts. Will teams make a statement and separate from the five-team tie at 2-2? Tune in next week to find out.
