Tennessee Titans rookie sixth-round wide receiver Jha'Quan Jackson has become a strong candidate for a 53-man roster spot out of training camp, according to ESPN's Turron Davenport. Jackson's explosive playmaking ability is helping him in an intense competition for a backup slot role, and his return potential on special teams hasn't helped his cause, either. Calvin Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins are the team's top two pass-catchers, with Tyler Body set to start out of the slot. If Jackson wins the backup slot role over Kyle Philips, he could become interesting in deeper fantasy leagues in 2024 if Boyd misses time with an injury. The 24-year-old from Tulane is undersized at 5-foot-9 and 188 pounds, but he could factor in as a deep threat occasionally for a new-look Titans offense that is expected to air the ball out much more. For now, Jackson is merely a player to monitor in dynasty/keeper formats.

Houston Texans quarterback Tim Boyle stepped up effectively in relief during the team's final preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. Boyle took over after the starter Case Keenum was injured. He showcased his skills, leading the Texans to a 17-15 victory. Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud was rested for the game as he prepares for the September 8 season opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Davis Mills has secured the backup role behind Stroud. Boyle, who previously filled in for Zach Wilson with the New York Jets, threw for 142 yards and two touchdowns in the game. As the Texans finalize their roster, Boyle will be vying with Keenum for the third-string quarterback spot.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Tyrion Davis-Price took 12 carries for 56 yards and lost a fumble during the team's 3-26 preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The 23-year-old was given the start on Saturday but has an uphill battle to make the roster with Saquon Barkley, Kenneth Gainwell, and rookie Will Shipley getting a rest to end the preseason. Davis-Price committing a turnover in his lone start likely didn't help his chances of making the final roster. The former San Francisco 49er will likely land on the practice squad if he is cut in the coming weeks leaving the trio of Barkley, Gainwell, and Shipley as locks to make the Week 1 roster.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett (leg) sat out again during Thursday's practice while teammates DK Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Dareke Young have been practicing with the first-team offense. This marks over a week of no practice for Lockett after coach Mike Macdonald deemed the injury not serious last Wednesday. It's at least mildly concerning as a timetable for his return has not been discussed, and he's not expected to suit up for Seattle's preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns this Saturday. However, the Seahawks are maybe just being cautious with the nine-year pro, attempting to get him healthy for the team's Week 1 tilt against the Denver Broncos. Lockett's availability has been stellar throughout his career, missing just three total games due to injury. He's currently Yahoo!'s WR49 and has a good chance to match or outplay that price if he begins the season fully healthy.

Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan says wide receiver Treylon Burks (undisclosed) is fine, and that it was good to see him bounce back after a hard fall on Wednesday in practice. Burks participated in practice on Thursday, so he should be good to go for the Titans in Sunday's preseason finale against the hosting New Orleans Saints at Caesars Superdome. Although the 24-year-old former first-round pick had a lost 2023 season due to injury and DeAndre Hopkins' (knee) arrival in Tennessee's receiving corps, he's handling additional first-team reps with Hopkins currently sidelined. Burks is a decent late-round flier as a WR5/6 pick for fantasy managers in 12-team leagues at the moment, but he'll likely fade back to irrelevance once Hopkins is healthy.
