Free-agent quarterback Brandon Allen is signing a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo. Allen was originally a sixth-round selection by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016 out of Arkansas and has spent time with five NFL organizations. Overall, the 32-year-old has completed just under 57% of his passing attempts for 1,810 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in 18 career games (one start). He'll now join Will Levis in Tennessee's quarterback room, and the Titans seem to be signaling that they are leaning toward picking a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. It would not be a surprise if Levis is dealt for a late-round pick, and Tennessee selects Miami quarterback Cam Ward next month.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brandon Allen could get a second consecutive start filling in for starter Brock Purdy (shoulder) when the 49ers play at the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Friday that he expects Purdy to play, but "lots of things could happen between now and then." In last week's 38-10 loss to the Packers in Green Bay, Allen completed 17-of-29 attempts for 199 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. In 10 career starts, Allen has only provided two fantasy-useful performances: A two-touchdown, 193-yard, zero-interception performance in his first career start with Denver back in 2019 and a two-touchdown, 371-yard, zero-interception game with the Bengals in 2021. A large snowstorm is predicted on Sunday in Western New York, and although most of the snow is supposed to fall before kickoff, it could still be windy. Even in perfect weather, the career-backup Allen would not be a recommended fantasy starter against a good Buffalo passing defense.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brandon Allen didn't have much to work with during a 38-10 loss to the Packers in Green Bay on Sunday. Filling in for starter Brock Purdy (shoulder), the sixth-year career backup went 17-of-29 for 199 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Allen was behind the eight ball from the beginning, getting his first start since the 2021 season on the road against a quality defense with future Hall of Fame left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) out. Allen wasn't perfect but made some quality throws, including the three-yard touchdown to tight end George Kittle. San Francisco's receivers didn't do Allen many favors, most notably Deebo Samuel Sr., who conspicuously dropped two passes, including the one that directly caused Allen's only interception. A number of drive-stalling offensive penalties and San Francisco's inability to win in the trenches on run plays didn't help, either. Purdy's status for Week 13 at Buffalo is still up in the air, so Allen could be in line for another start, but won't be recommended in standard leagues.
