Similar to what has been provided the last six weeks, below are my top three plays that I will be anchoring my SuperDraft DFS lineups around. While there were typically five plays provided, I will be providing three plays per week while adding an “others to consider” section full of the players who round out the vast majority of my player pool.

This gives you the ability to lock in the key three and fill in around it. Below are my top three options for Week 9.

Tom Brady, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (@ WAS)

Score multiplier: 1.15x

I noted my infatuation with Tom Brady earlier in the week in my Thursday-Monday DFS article, but it’s worth repeating:

“Through their first eight games, the Football Team ranks in the bottom half of the NFL in pass attempts allowed (303), the seventh-most total passing yards (2,391), and the second-most passing touchdowns (20) in the entire league. The defense, in all facets, has been in absolute shambles this season, but the secondary has been especially bad. 

“For a quarterback that comes into a game with an implied total of over 30 points and four or more touchdowns in five of eight games this season, there may not be a better spot for Brady to smash.”

Regardless of how the injury report shakes out for his receivers, Brady will have no problem picking apart this secondary.

D’Ernest Johnson, RB, Cleveland Browns (@ NE)

Score multiplier: 1.55x

With the Browns’ backfield in shambles due to injuries and COVID-19, D’Ernest Johnson should once again be thrust into a workhorse role for the second time this season. The first time went extremely well for the young back. In his last start (Week 7 against the Broncos) Johnson rushed 22 times for 146 yards and caught two passes for an additional 22 yards while also finding the end zone.

Given the run-first nature of this Cleveland offense, this volume is nothing surprising. Despite a rather difficult matchup with the Patriots, the fact that Cleveland runs at the third-highest rate in football (48.84%) instills confidence that they won’t abandon their game plan. Johnson is primed for a workhorse role with an incredible 1.55x multiplier.

Diontae Johnson, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. DET)

Score multiplier: 1.35x

Already one of the more voluminous receivers in football, Diontae Johnson is primed for arguably his largest target share of the season Sunday with both JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool out. 

His volume has already been through the roof, as Johnson has logged at least 10 targets in five of seven games this season while catching at least five passes in six of seven games this season. He ranks top-10 among all receivers in football in target share (27.71%) and has accounted for 37% of the Steelers’ air yards and should be primed for even more Sunday. Detroit has surrendered production in every facet of their secondary, making Johnson a priority target in all formats with his 1.35x multiplier.
