The Atlanta Falcons are placing kicker Younghoe Koo (undisclosed) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday, according to a source. In a corresponding move, the Falcons have signed kicker Riley Patterson off the Cleveland Browns practice squad and onto their 53-man active roster. Koo is now out for the rest of the season and would be unavailable to kick in the wild-card round of the playoffs if the Falcons get into the postseason. The 30-year-old suffered an undisclosed injury in the Monday night win over the Las Vegas Raiders and will now go on the shelf. Normally a very reliable kicker, Koo struggled with accuracy in 2024, making 25 of his 34 field-goal attempts, although he made all 26 of his extra points. Patterson will now fill in heading into a Week 16 contest against the New York Giants. With rookie QB Michael Penix Jr. making his first career start, fantasy managers will want to steer clear of Patterson.
Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo (undisclosed) reportedly hurt himself a bit during Monday's game, according to head coach Raheem Morris. It doesn't sound like too serious of an injury, but fantasy managers should stay tuned for another update on Wednesday. Koo made his lone extra point attempt and connected on 2-of-3 field goal attempts in the win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Possibly, the injury was part of the reason Koo missed his field goal attempt in the fourth quarter. Regardless, fantasy managers will have to wait another day or two before getting a better update. Fantasy managers who have Koo rostered might want to get a backup plan in place in case he misses the Week 16 matchup against the New York Giants.
Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo knocked through a pair of short field goals and a couple of extra points last week, restoring some faith in the kicker's abilities. The 30-year-old went through a rough patch from Weeks 5-10 where he missed seven field goals, however, over the last three contests he's 6-for-7 while remaining perfect on extra point attempts, going 25-for-25 on the season. Week 15 brings a favorable environment for the kicker, as the Falcons take on the Raiders in Las Vegas. The Falcons are 4.5-point favorites in this game and the Raiders have allowed the most fantasy points in all of football to opposing kickers. Atlanta, despite Kirk Cousins' recent struggles, should be able to move the ball down the field on Monday night, and Koo is tentatively back in the circle of trust, looking like a top-12 option this week.
Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo hit two fields and an extra point attempt in Week 13, however, a field goal attempt from 35 yards out sailed wide right, marking the sixth field goal he's missed in the last six games. The 30-year-old is now 21-for-29 (72.4%) on the season, although he has yet to miss an extra point (24-for-24). Week 14's matchup with the Vikings has the Falcons as six-point underdogs and if Atlanta plans to win the game, they may not be able to settle for field goals. Still, the Falcons should be able to move the ball through the air, assuming Kirk Cousins remedies his interception issues, but drives may stall when the team has to run the ball down close against one of the toughest run defenses in the league, which could translate to opportunities for Koo. This matchup will also be indoors, so weather shouldn't be a problem. View Koo as a low-end kicker option this week with more reliable options in better situations likely available for the taking on the waiver wire.
Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo (hip) is officially active for Week 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Koo was listed as questionable to play in this game after popping up on the injury report on Thursday, but he was able to practice in full on Friday and will be good to go this weekend. Atlanta signed kicker Riley Patterson to their practice squad this week as insurance with Koo up in the air. The 30-year-old Koo has been more inconsistent than ever before in 2024 for the Falcons, missing seven of his 26 field-goal attempts through 11 games. At perhaps less than 100 percent on Sunday, fantasy managers should consider him a low-end kicking option for starting lineups against a Chargers defense that has been among the best units in football this year. The Bolts have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to kickers through 12 weeks.
