Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz was the team's offense in a 13-6 loss to the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers in Denver on Sunday. Lutz finished as a top-10 fantasy kicker in the Week 1 loss to the Seattle Seahawks after going 3-for-3 on his field goals while making his only extra-point try. The 30-year-old veteran was only called on twice for field goals this Sunday, connecting on a long of 35. The Bo Nix-led Denver offense was stuck in the mud all day for the second straight week, and the only time they entered the red zone, Nix threw an ugly interception in the back of the end zone. Lutz has been one of the more reliable kickers over the years in terms of field-goal percentage, but he's going to be off the fantasy radar in most leagues on a weekly basis if the Broncos offense continues to look as bad as it has in Nix's first two career starts. Ignore him for a Week 3 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Even though Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz had a surprisingly decent Week 1 performance fantasy-wise, you really shouldn't be very interested in using him as a sleeper kicker in Week 2 against a swarming Pittsburgh Steelers defense. Lutz went 3-for-3 on his field goals and also made his only extra-point attempt in the season-opening loss to the Seattle Seahawks in which he benefitted from some good starting positions for a Denver offense that just couldn't get much going in rookie quarterback Bo Nix's NFL debut. The 30-year-old veteran was a Pro Bowler in 2019 with the Saints and has made 85.3% of his 232 field goals attempted in 115 games, so he's been pretty reliable when called upon. However, Denver's offense with a rookie QB at the helm isn't expected to provide Lutz with another kicking opportunities to make him a worthwhile streamer on a weekly basis.

Lutz's other two field goals were good from 30 and 35 yards out. It was a nice first game of the 2024 season for the 30-year-old booter, but the Broncos offense under rookie first-round quarterback Bo Nix is going to need to show improvement for Lutz to be considered an option as a streaming fantasy kicker in standard-sized 12-team leagues.

It was enough to get the Broncos to sign him to a two-year contract extension in the offseason after it initially looked like he was about to jump ship and join the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 30-year-old veteran was a Pro Bowler in 2019 and has made 85.2% of his kicks in seven NFL seasons. It's not that he's an unreliable kicking option, but there are just much better options in fantasy to begin the season. The biggest reason why Lutz remains off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 1 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks is that he's kicking for an offense that will be led by rookie quarterback Bo Nix. Consistent field-goal opportunities may be hard to come by for the veteran.

Despite a previous report saying that he was signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday, kicker Wil Lutz re-signed with the Denver Broncos on an undisclosed two-year deal, according to his agent, John Perla. Lutz will continue to kick for head coach Sean Payton, although moving to Jacksonville would have likely been much more lucrative for his 2024 fantasy value. The Broncos are in rebuilding mode and have moved on from quarterback Russell Wilson, which means their offense could struggle to get into field-goal range more often under Jarrett Stidham or another signal-caller. Lutz finished as the No. 18 fantasy kicker in 2023 by making 30 of his 34 field-goal tries and 29 of his 31 extra points. With Wilson now gone and an offense in flux, Lutz's fantasy ceiling and floor are likely going to be lower in his second year with the team.
