Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes collected the third Super Bowl win of his decorated career in Sunday's 25-22 overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers, completing 34-of-46 passes for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception and adding nine carries for 66 yards. San Francisco held Mahomes and company in check during the first two quarters of a thrilling Super Bowl LVIII, but these two heavyweights went punch for punch after halftime. After a botched Niners punt in the third period, Mahomes perhaps caught the defense off guard with a go-ahead 16-yard score to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. K.C. later matched San Fran's 13-play scoring in OT with one of their own, with Mahomes cashing in a game-winning TD from three yards away to Mecole Hardman Jr. Despite the three-time Super Bowl MVP's down year statistically, Mahomes will be a no-brainer top-five fantasy QB1 when it's time for 2024 drafts.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes embarks on his fourth career Super Bowl appearance on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. In three Super Bowls, Mahomes has thrown for 738 yards, five touchdowns, four interceptions, and a 79.7 passer rating. Since Allegiant Stadium opened in 2020, it's almost been a home away from home for Mahomes. For what it's worth, the two-time MVP has accumulated 1,254 yards, 10 TDs, one interception, and a 115.9 passer rating in four lifetime contests at the venue. When these teams last met in late October of 2022, Mahomes diced up San Fran for 423 yards and three scores with one pick. With that said, the Niners have given up the fifth-fewest yards per attempt (5.9) and third-fewest points per game (18.4) to date this year, and they were tied for the most interceptions (22) during the regular season. Mahomes has topped 20 fantasy points only once since Week 7 and is a bet-on-talent DFS wager as he looks to hoist his third Lombardi Trophy in the big game.
The Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes advanced to their fourth Super Bowl in the past five years with a 17-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Sunday's AFC Championship game. Mahomes completed 30-of-39 passes for 241 yards and one touchdown, adding 15 yards on six carries. After passing Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski for the most postseason TDs by a QB-receiver combo in the Divisional Round victory over the Buffalo Bills, Mahomes added another by connecting with Travis Kelce from 19 yards away on K.C.'s opening drive to get the future Hall of Fame tight end his 19th career playoff score. With a game-sealing 32-yard pass to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mahomes and the defending-champion Chiefs punched their ticket to Las Vegas to take on the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11 for a Super Bowl LIV rematch and attempt to repeat as champs for the first time since the 2003-04 New England Patriots.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took advantage of an injury-depleted Buffalo Bills defense in the Divisional Round win, but he'll face a much tougher test in Sunday's AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens. Defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald's unit held signal-callers to the fewest fantasy points per game (11.20), passing touchdowns (16), and yards per attempt (5.1) in the regular season. That's not to mention that Baltimore's D ranked first in points per game (16.5) and sacks (58). It's about the stiffest matchup Mahomes could draw, but for what it's worth, the two-time MVP has eclipsed 340 passing yards in each of his four career starts versus the Ravens and totes a 132.5 passer rating with 1,102 yards (10.0 yards per attempt) and a 10:1 TD:INT over his last three outings against them. Whereas Mahomes was a high-end DFS play against the Bills, he's more of a midrange option here at $6,900 on DraftKings.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes pushed all the right buttons as his team held on for a 27-24 road win over the Buffalo Bills, completing 17-of-23 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns with 16 additional yards on six carries in Sunday's Divisional Round. The Chiefs ran just 47 plays to Buffalo's 78 and possessed the ball for less than 24 minutes, but that was all Mahomes needed for an efficient performance. The 28-year-old superstar missed Kelce in the back of the end zone early, but he made no mistake finding his tight end wide open in the second quarter. Mahomes dumped one off to Kelce again for his second score in the third period. In terms of passer rating (131.6), Sunday was Mahomes' best game of the year. Mahomes now hits the road for the second playoff game of his career away from home next Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, and it will be the two-time MVP's sixth straight postseason competing for the AFC title.
