Carolina Panthers running back Mike Boone has been elevated to the team's active roster ahead of their Sunday meeting with the Dallas Cowboys. The 29-year-old has appeared in just one game this season -- the first -- registering four carries and seven yards. The move seemingly comes in response to fellow RB Raheem Blackshear (chest) being downgraded to out for Week 15, as he was the only other active back on the roster besides starter Chuba Hubbard. The Cowboys' defense has come around over the previous few weeks but could be without a few of their defenders this Sunday due to injury. Still, with Hubbard dominating the Panthers' snap share and backfield touches, Boone garners little more than handcuff status for the time being.

Raheem Blackshear (chest) was also injured on Sunday, although thankfully his injury isn't considered serious and he's listed as day-to-day. Miles Sanders (ankle) is already out for the rest of the season, too, so Carolina's backfield is extremely thin with four games remaining in 2024. Boone has only seen action in two games for the Panthers in 2024 in his first year with the team, handling only four carries for seven yards. The 29-year-old has averaged 5.1 yards per carry on 108 rushing attempts in his seven years in the NFL with four different teams, but he'll primarily be just a handcuff in deeper leagues for those that have Hubbard rostered.

The Carolina Panthers are signing Mike Boone to the active 53-man roster, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The 29-year-old was called up to the active roster in Week 1 and rushed four times for seven yards. He has totaled 546 rushing yards and four rushing scores since entering the league in 2018. Carolina is fresh off a disastrous 47-10 blowout at the hands of the New Orleans Saints and running backs Miles Sanders, Chubba Hubbard, and Boone combined for just 43 total rushing yards. There could be a three-man committee in Carolina until Jonathon Brooks (knee) comes off the PUP list, but with how bad the offense looked in Week 1, there's a good chance none of them have fantasy value in 12-team leagues.
