Carolina Panthers running back Mike Boone was a non-factor in Sunday's 44-38 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 18. Boone rushed for 18 yards on four carries while catching one pass for minus two yards. The Panthers activated Miles Sanders (ankle) off the injured reserve, and Boone took a clear backseat to Sanders in this one. He was out-touched by Sanders 17 to four in the contest. However, Boone did have the same number of rushing attempts as last week's starter, Raheem Blackshear. During the season, Boone had nine carries for 33 yards, which is not a recommended fantasy option for managers in 2025.

He operated behind Raheem Blackshear, who was also relatively unproductive with just eight carries and 20 rushing yards. It's possible that Blackshear and Boone earn increased carries against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 18, but it's too risky to trust either player in fantasy football going forward.

The Carolina Panthers placed running back Chuba Hubbard (calf, knee) on season-ending Injured Reserve on Saturday, meaning both Mike Boone and Raheem Blackshear will be splitting the backfield work for the final two games of the season. Boone is currently on the team's practice squad, but he'll surely be promoted to the active 53-man roster before Sunday's contest against the division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17. The 29-year-old Boone has only seen seven carries for 22 yards in the four games he's been active with Carolina this year. While he's now going to see much more run the final two weeks, desperate fantasy managers shouldn't expect much out of him the close things out, especially with the Panthers facing a Buccaneers defense this weekend that has allowed the fewest half-PPR points to RBs in the last five weeks.

The 29-year-old has appeared in just one game this season -- the first -- registering four carries and seven yards. The move seemingly comes in response to fellow RB Raheem Blackshear (chest) being downgraded to out for Week 15, as he was the only other active back on the roster besides starter Chuba Hubbard. The Cowboys' defense has come around over the previous few weeks but could be without a few of their defenders this Sunday due to injury. Still, with Hubbard dominating the Panthers' snap share and backfield touches, Boone garners little more than handcuff status for the time being.

Miles Sanders (ankle) is already out for the rest of the season, too, so Carolina's backfield is extremely thin with four games remaining in 2024. Boone has only seen action in two games for the Panthers in 2024 in his first year with the team, handling only four carries for seven yards. The 29-year-old has averaged 5.1 yards per carry on 108 rushing attempts in his seven years in the NFL with four different teams, but he'll primarily be just a handcuff in deeper leagues for those that have Hubbard rostered.
