San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will be in Tampa for a Week 10 showdown against the Buccaneers on Sunday. The last time we saw Purdy, he earned a Week 8 30-24 victory over the Dallas Cowboys at home. The former Iowa State Cyclone looked sharp in that game, posting 26.3 fantasy points. Purdy has a juicy matchup coming out of the bye, as Tampa Bay's defense is ranked dead-last in QB fantasy points allowed in Yahoo default scoring. Though Purdy will be without Brandon Aiyuk (knee) for the remainder of the year, there are no other excuses for San Francisco's passing attack to stall in this one, as Christian McCaffrey (Achilles), Deebo Samuel (rib/oblique), and Jauan Jennings (hip) are all likely to play. The Bucs are leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns allowed to quarterbacks -- part of why they've been such a friendly matchup -- and Purdy has been on a bit of a ground-game heater. He's averaging 26.3 yards per game this season, nearly triple 2023's mark, and has rushed for three touchdowns in his last two games. However, McCaffrey's return is likely to stymie that trend. Regardless, Purdy is a solid fantasy starter in Week 10.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy led his team to a 30-24 win at home over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. The third-year pro went 19-for-26 for 260 yards and a touchdown through the air while adding eight carries for 56 yards and a touchdown sneak on the ground. Purdy avoided the type of gaffe that plagued him in a three-interception Week 7 loss to Kansas City, appearing cool and collected en route to an important win. It's a welcome sight for fantasy managers that Purdy continues to produce with San Francisco's offensive skill position players decimated with injury, but three of his last four touchdowns have come via quarterback sneak, which isn't really a bankable part of Purdy's game. The recent increase in rushing yardage, however, may persist as San Francisco has trusted Purdy with an increase in slow-developing routes down the field, and Purdy has responded with an adept ability to take the escape lanes he's given. Purdy and the 49ers have a Week 9 bye before a trip to Tampa Bay in Week 10.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy takes his snaps in Week 8 at home against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. Purdy had a bad game against Kansas City last week, but it wasn't his worst game in fantasy due to two QB sneaks for touchdowns. He went 17-of-31 for 212 yards passing with three interceptions. This week, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that Dallas' pass defense is tied for the fourth-worst at holding opposing fantasy quarterbacks, most recently allowing Detroit's Jared Goff to go over 300 yards and toss three touchdowns. Plus, Dallas pass rush menace Micah Parsons (ankle) and CB Daron Bland (foot) will remain out, with two other starters questionable. The bad news is that the 49ers offense is also depleted, missing Christian McCaffrey (Achilles/calf), Brandon Aiyuk (knee), Jauan Jennings (hip), and potentially George Kittle (foot) and Deebo Samuel Sr. (wrist/illness). Purdy managers can only hope that San Francisco's depth options can step up, starting with rookie first-rounder Ricky Pearsall in only his second-career game. If Kittle and Samuel Sr. play, Purdy is a back-end QB1. If not, he's firmly in QB2 territory.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had a rough day at the office in a 28-18 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Purdy finished with 17 completions on 31 attempts for 212 yards, no passing touchdowns, and three interceptions. Overall, it was a sloppy performance but Purdy's day was saved in fantasy with a couple of touchdowns on quarterback sneaks. He finished with eight rushes for 27 yards and the two scores. Although a substandard Purdy made his share of mistakes, it didn't help that he was without receivers Brandon Aiyuk (knee) and Deebo Samuel Sr. (illness) for most of the game. Looking ahead, Purdy will probably slip in weekly rankings if Aiyuk has suffered an ACL tear as feared, at least until rookie receivers Ricky Pearsall and/or Jacob Cowing prove reliable. A return by Christian McCaffrey (Achilles/calf) at some point would help buoy Purdy's value. Purdy gets the Dallas Cowboys at home next Sunday night.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has a tough test on tap as the 5-0 Kansas City Chiefs roll into Santa Clara on Sunday. Last week in Seattle, Purdy was on point, completing 18 of 28 attempts for 255 yards and three touchdowns en route to a win. He also rushed for 19 yards on four carries. Despite Kansas City's perfect record, their pass defense has been just okay, tied for 14th-toughest against fantasy quarterbacks in Yahoo default settings. Purdy will have a full complement of weapons -- besides Christian McCaffrey (Achilles/calf) and third receiver Jauan Jennings (hip). First-round pick Ricky Pearsall will make his NFL debut filling in for Jennings after the former suffered a gunshot wound in the preseason. Purdy is tied with Kyler Murray for the overall QB11 slot in fantasy PPG. Start him as a low/mid QB1 in the Super Bowl LVIII rematch, where he'll look to lift the 49ers above .500 for the first time in over a month.
