Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell caught just one of his four targets for a 30-yard gain in the team's Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers. This now marks the second week in a row Mitchell saw favorable targets and air yards but has been unable to turn them into fantasy production. Mitchell's speed and separation abilities are undeniable, but he hasn't shown that he has a safe enough floor as a member of this Colts offense to warrant starting him with confidence in lineups. On top of that, the Colts are expecting WR Josh Downs (knee) to return back to the fold eventually, and it's unclear who's snap share will take the largest hit as a result. Fantasy managers will need to monitor Downs' Week 3 status before closely starting Mitchell in lineups, and even then, he can be considered a boom-or-bust WR4 option with the hopes that he can connect on a deep ball or two from Richardson.
Indianapolis Colts rookie wide receiver Adonai Mitchell grabbed just one target for two yards in his career debut in Week 1, but the box score didn't tell the full story. Mitchell saw five targets with 82 air yards, just missing on a few deep passes from QB Anthony Richardson. The rookie saw elite separation on many of his routes, quickly becoming a preferred target in the offense. That being said, Mitchell does not come into Week 2's matchup against the Green Bay Packers with a safe floor, as shown in his Week 1 performance. Fantasy managers in need of an upside play can look to Mitchell in a WR3/Flex spot and hope that he is on the receiving end of a few deep balls from Richardson.
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell didn't find much success in his first NFL regular season game but the potential remains high after seeing the second-most targets in their 29-27 loss to the Houston Texans. The rookie wideout received five targets but only caught one of them for two yards. The silver lining is that Anthony Richardson was looking for him at various depths down the field, and the accuracy of the throws was more to blame. Mitchell was able to get some separation from his defender and he'll likely grow into a bigger part of the offense as Richardson grows as well. He's a risky fantasy start at the moment but will look to get on the board in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers.
