The NFL preseason is over, rosters are cut down to 53 players, and practice squads around the NFL are taking shape. The 2022 NFL season is right around the corner, and the inaugural game of the season should be an exciting one.
Thursday, Sept. 8, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills heading to Los Angeles to take on the defending Super Bowl champions. While the full game odds and total have been out for a while, FanDuel Sportsbook and Caesars Sportsbook have officially launched odds and lines for player prop bets.
I took a dive into the player props offered by each of these sportsbooks, and I have found four early targets to keep my eye on for this game. When looking to place a player prop bet, it is important to shop around to find the best lines, so be sure to check out what is available on both FanDuel Sportsbook and Caesars Sportsbook.
Here are four props that stand out to me initially.
Thursday Night Football Prop Bets
Buffalo Bills @ Los Angeles Rams
Allen Robinson OVER 57.5 Receiving Yards
(-110, FanDuel Sportsbook)
Allen Robinson had his worst season as a pro with the Bears in 2021, but relocating to Los Angeles may be exactly what Robinson needed to succeed again. Robinson, in his eight-year pro career, has never had a top-tier passer throwing him the ball. With Matthew Stafford under center, I believe Robinson is in for a big season, and it will start in game one.
The Buffalo Bills had one of the top secondaries in the NFL last season, but a lot of their success was them capitalizing on bad weather and weak opposing quarterbacks. Tre’Davious White is on the PUP list, and without him, the Bills’ other cornerbacks are not strong enough to shut down both Kupp and Robinson. With most of the attention sure to go to Kupp, and the Rams’ passing game being their focal point on offense, look for Robinson to go over 57.5 rec yards.
Cooper Kupp to Score a Touchdown
(-150, Caesars Sportsbook)
Cooper Kupp led the NFL with 16 receiving TDs last season, and this is a great matchup for Kupp to score his first touchdown of 2022. Kupp won the wide receiver triple crown last year, and the Bills will attempt to slow him down with second and third-string cornerbacks. Even when all the attention is on Kupp, McVay finds a way to scheme his top threat open. Kupp led the NFL in red zone targets and touchdowns last year, so expect the Rams to get him the ball in the red zone on opening night.
Tyler Higbee UNDER 39.5 Receiving Yards
(-115, Caesars Sportsbook)
The Rams are a pass-first offense, but I expect Allen Robinson to soak up a lot of the target on opening night. Tyler Higbee eclipsed this total just seven times last season, and the Bills have one of the best safety duos in the league. One of Jordan Poyer or Micha Hyde will have to keep an eye out for Kupp, but whichever safety they have on Higbee presents a tough matchup. Even with an uptick of passing attempts by Stafford, I do not think Higbee will go over this total.
