New York Giants Week 3 odds and betting picks

The New York Giants may not be considered a true contender for Super Bowl 56, but by playing in the NFC East, the playoffs become more possible, and anything is possible once you get into the playoffs. Of course, they need to start winning games to do that. The G-Men are hoping to make an impact in 2021 and with Daniel Jones leading the offense again this season, opinions are divided as to whether he can be the guy to lead New York back to prosperity.

The Giants were edged by the Washington Football Team in Week 2 to drop to 0-2 and now host the Atlanta Falcons as 3-point favorites at MetLife Stadium.

Super Bowl odds update – New York Giants

The Giants didn’t start the 2021 season on the best note after dropping the first two games to the Denver Broncos and Washington Football Team. They’ve been near the bottom of the standings for the last few seasons and have had a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft in five of the last six seasons. The accumulation of talent hasn’t seemed to materialize the team into a contender, as sportsbooks like BetMGM have the Giants’ Super Bowl odds at +12500, which is the seventh-worst odds among all 32 NFL teams.

  • Week 3: +12500
  • Week 2: +10000
  • Week 1: +8000
  • Preseason: +8000

Giants futures odds

The main futures markets to pay attention to for the Giants are odds to win the NFC East and NFC conference odds.

For the NFC East, they trail the Dallas Cowboys (-140), Washington Football Team (+350) and Philadelphia Eagles (+525) in odds to win the division at BetMGM. Although the Giants finished 6-10 last season, they had a surprising 4-2 record within the division and won four of their last six games to finish the 2020 season.

As for NFC Conference odds, the Giants are far down the list to get back to the Super Bowl and sit at +6600 odds at BetMGM to pull it off. That’s the second-worst odds in the conference and seems highly unlikely given the great teams ahead of them like the Buccaneers, Packers, 49ers and Rams.

Saquon Barkley NFL Comeback Player of the Year odds

Although he hasn’t had the best showing in his return from injury so far, Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants should still be a great candidate to win NFL Comeback Player of the Year. His odds are currently +2500 at BetMGM to rise from the ashes like a phoenix and live up to the hype he had coming out of Penn State. Unlike the favorite Dak Prescott, there’s less pressure for Saquon to succeed playing with a team like the Giants that is expected to finish near the bottom of the standings.

If Saquon puts up numbers similar to his rookie season and plays at least 15 games, he’ll could certainly win this award over the likes of Prescott, Christian McCaffrey or Jameis Winston. At +2500 odds at BetMGM, it may be worth a bet at this stage given the Giants have come out and said they don’t plan to limit his reps throughout the season.

New York Giants betting trends

The Giants are coming off a season where, even though they finished 6-11 in the standings, they were a reliable spread most weeks. They finished 9-7 against the spread in 2020 and an impressive 6-2 ATS in road games.

In Week 2, they failed to get the road win but still managed to cover the spread. The Giants rebounded on the scoreboard by scoring 29 points but allowed a last-second field goal to lose 30-29. As a result, the game total went over and Giants game totals are 1-1 in 2021.

In 2020, totals bettors had a huge edge by taking unders in Giants games and total went under in 12 of their 16 games last season. Oddsmakers didn’t think there would be much offensive fireworks in New York games as only one game saw a closing total over 50 points. After finishing with the 31st-ranked scoring offense last year, bettors should expect a lot more games in 2021 with totals in the 42-45 points range.

Here are the updated trends from the 2020 season:

  • 9-7 ATS
  • 3-12-1 O/U record on totals
