Moves to Make Now in Dynasty Fantasy Football (6/21)

Share

It’s officially summer! The perfect time to grab a Shasta, lounge by the pool and read the latest installment of “Dynasty Moves to Make.” Just make sure you put on sunscreen. As a reminder, buying doesn’t mean getting a player for Kenneth Gainwell and a pair of “gently used” boxer briefs. Selling doesn’t mean you must rid your rosters of said player for 10 cents on the dollar. When players are improperly valued, take advantage.

Buy

Rhamondre Stevenson, New England Patriots

While writing this article, it was announced that Rhamodre Stevenson inked a four-year, $36 million extension with New England. The Patriots paid him like a featured back, including $17 million guaranteed. 2023 was abysmal all around for the Pats offense, and Stevenson only rushed for 619 yards in a season trimmed to 12 games due to injury. He comes into 2024 fully healthy and just one season removed from a 1,461 total-yard and 69-reception season. In the wise words of the well-known philosopher Fat Joe, “Yesterday’s price is not today’s price.” Buy the dip on Stevenson.

Players I’d be willing to trade for Stevenson 1 for 1: Alvin Kamara, Austin Ekeler, Aaron Jones

Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers

The rookie season for Bryce Young was… *checks notes*… not good. A touchdown-to-interception ratio of 11:10. Just one game over 300 passing yards. Only two with multiple passing touchdowns. But the Panthers wisely spent the offseason building up the team around Young. They added wide receiver Diontae Johnson and Xavier Legette, bolstered the offensive line with guards Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis and took arguably the best running back in this year’s draft, Jonathan Brooks, out of Texas. It’s doubtful you’ll be able to get a significant discount on Young, and there’s a very real possibility he’ll become the next in a long line of first-overall pick busts. But his value is depressed to the point he’s well worth the gamble.

Players I’d be willing to trade for Young 1 for 1: Deshaun Watson, Matthew Stafford, Baker Mayfield

Quentin Johnston, Los Angeles Chargers

Speaking of abysmal rookie seasons, Quentin Johnston, ladies and gentlemen! I won’t waste your time reviewing the anemic numbers he put up in Year 1. But a few things can help explain away enough of the bad taste that he may be worth trading for. Johnston was drafted to a Chargers team loaded at wide receiver with Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Joshua Palmer. Allen and Williams are gone, and the only additions to the wide receiver room are DJ Chark and rookie Ladd McConkey. Considering Johnston’s skill set, it was shocking that he only lined up in the slot for 10% of his snaps. He ranked second in the nation in yards after the catch in his final season at TCU. New Chargers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman already said that will change in 2024. I’m not saying Johnston will be the next Davante Adams, but I’m not ready to coin him the next Jalen Reagor either. He’s being given up on the way too soon.

Players I’d be willing to trade for Johnston 1 for 1: Tyler Lockett, Gus Edwards, Josh Downs
