Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Mac Jones is a better-than-usual fantasy option in Week 16 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Jones had a good outing last week against the New York Jets, giving him a good fantasy outing in two of the last three weeks. However, it is still hard to trust Jones beyond two QB/Superflex leagues given his overall body of work. The Raiders do serve as a plus matchup, but the Jaguars offense has struggled for the most part this season. Despite all of the injuries to the Jacksonville receiving core, Brian Thomas Jr. has been dominant as a rookie, and Brenton Strange caught 11 passes in the place of Evan Engram, giving him good enough options to succeed at least. It is hard to trust Jones in an important fantasy playoff matchup, but there are worse options in Week 16.

Fantasy managers will have a better idea of his status following Friday's practice. If active, Strange holds high-end TE2 value in a plus-matchup against a shaky Raiders secondary.

Strange was limited in the first practice of the week on Wednesday. With Evan Engram (shoulder) out for the year, Strange is Jacksonville's top pass-catching tight end option for the remainder of the regular season. He stood out right away in the loss to the Jets, catching 11 of his 12 targets from quarterback Mac Jones for 73 yards. Going into the Week 15 game, Strange had just 31 targets all season long. Jones leaned heavily on Strange last week and could continue doing so in the final three games of the year, giving Strange TE1 upside for the remainder of the fantasy playoffs. He'll look to soak up targets yet again this Sunday in an excellent matchup against the two-win Raiders.

The second-year tight end out of Penn State enjoyed the most productive game of his career last week against the New York Jets, catching 11 of his 12 targets for 73 yards. With Evan Engram (shoulder) out for the season, Strange will operate as the lead tight end in Jacksonville for the rest of the year. The 23-year-old has streamer appeal against the Las Vegas Raiders, who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends in 2024.

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram (shoulder) underwent surgery on Monday to fix a torn labrum in his left shoulder. It was already announced that Engram would miss the rest of the 2024 season with his injury, but head coach Doug Pederson said he is expected to be back for spring workouts. The 30-year-old was placed on Injured Reserve last weekend, officially ending his season. After a career year in 2023 with the Jags in which he caught 114 passes for 963 yards and four touchdowns, Engram finishes 2024 with 47 catches, 365 receiving yards and only one touchdown in nine starts. It just wasn't meant to be for Jacksonville this year, and it didn't help Engram's cause that quarterback Trevor Lawrence couldn't stay healthy. Engram will be heading into the final year of his three-year, $41.25 million extension in 2025.
