Every Monday during the NFL season, the Injury Report goes through the injuries around the NFL position-by-position as they relate to your season-long fantasy football teams.
Friday Update
Bills quarterback Josh Allen was spotted on the practice field briefly Friday. Case Keenum will start for Buffalo if Allen is inactive this week.
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is in the concussion protocol. John Wolford will start for Los Angeles if Stafford is inactive this week.
Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is a game-time decision with a hamstring injury. Colt McCoy will start for Arizona if Murray is inactive this week.
Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott will play in this week’s game at Green Bay, according to Jerry Jones.
Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman didn’t practice again Friday with an abdomen injury. Hardman seems likely to miss Week 10, which could mean increased opportunities for the newly acquired Kadarius Toney.
Browns tight end David Njoku is ruled out for Week 10 with an ankle injury. Harrison Bryant will continue to fill in for Njoku.
Original Injury Run
Quarterback
Bills quarterback Josh Allen suffered a UCL sprain in his elbow on this play late in the Bills’ loss to the Jets on Sunday. Allen uncorked a deep pass to Gabe Davis that went incomplete, but with Allen’s history of issues with UCL injuries (he missed four games because of it in 2018), it’s certainly something to monitor this week.
Running Back
Packers running back Aaron Jones suffered an ankle injury and was seen in a walking boot after Green Bay’s 15-9 loss to the Lions on Sunday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that tests on Jones’ ankle came back negative, and he should be able to play this week.
Bengals’ backup running back Chris Evans left Sunday’s game against Carolina with a right knee injury and was ruled out quickly. Head coach Zach Taylor said the team is waiting for more information after the game. That sounds kind of ominous. If Evans is out for significant time, Samaje Perine becomes the clear handcuff to Joe Mixon in Cincinnati if he wasn’t already.
Lions backup running back Craig Reynolds left Sunday’s game against Green Bay with a rib injury and didn’t return. Jamaal Williams handled most of the carries for Detroit, while D’Andre Swift is being used sparingly and mostly in the passing game. With Reynolds out, Justin Jackson played 13 snaps, which was three more than Swift. Jackson becomes an interesting handcuff if Reynolds is out for significant time, because if something happened to Williams it’s clear that Swift can’t handle the workload at this point.
Wide Receiver
Packers rookie wide receiver Romeo Doubs suffered a lower leg injury on this play early in the game at Detroit. Doubs didn’t return to the game after hobbling off the field into the blue medical tent. He was seen on crutches with his right foot in a walking boot after the game. His timetable to return to the field is unclear.
Packers rookie wide receiver Christian Watson was questionable for Sunday’s game after suffering a concussion last week. He cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol only to leave Sunday’s game against the Lions with another concussion. That’s two straight weeks with a concussion. Watson’s status will have to be monitored going forward.
Tight End
Jaguars tight end Evan Engram had a noticeable limp as he left the field with what the Jaguars are calling a back injury. Engram returned to the game, but his status for next week might be something we have to keep our eye on.
