DraftKings Week 1 NFL DFS Picks

Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles($6,400): He’s not a safe option, but his Konami Code rushing ability gives him a massive ceiling for his price. It also helps that the Eagles square off with the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1, a team that surrendered almost 26 points per game last season and was gashed all over the field.

Christian McCaffrey, RB, Carolina Panthers ($9,500): Does writing him up feel like a copout? Sure, but we’re getting a $500 (or more) discount on a running back who has continued to anchor lineups for the last season and a half against a defense with a respectable secondary. This could easily force Sam Darnold to check down more than usual, forcing the ball into McCaffrey’s hands upwards of 25-30 times.

Calvin Ridley, WR, Atlanta Falcons ($7,900): The new default WR1 in Atlanta (you could’ve argued this has already been the case), Ridley turns his sights to an Eagles defense that was gashed by wide receivers left and right last season. With 15-target and multiple-touchdown upside, Ridley has a case to be the overall WR1 in Week 1.

Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta Falcons ($4,400): Based on offseason hype alone, it could’ve been expected that Pitts would be the highest-priced player on the entire slate. That’s far from the case and he finds himself as a screaming value in Week 1, only a few hundred dollars more than the likes of Jonnu Smith. Matt Ryan is a tough quarterback to trust, but with a massive target share on the horizon and the potential to line up at both tight end and wide receiver, while likely being the number one red-zone threat, Pitts is one of the best per-dollar plays on the slate.

Week 1 NFL DFS Value Picks – DraftKings

Sam Darnold, QB, Carolina Panthers ($5,000): Is Darnold a sexy name to use in DFS? Absolutely not. While turnovers could continue to plague the young quarterback, his Week 1 matchup is hard to ignore, as he gets a revenge spot against the New York Jets with one of the best groups of receiving assets in the league in D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson and Christian McCaffrey. If throwing an interception or two means 300-plus-yard and four-touchdown upside, $5,000 is a steal in large-field tournaments.

Aaron Jones, RB, Green Bay Packers ($6,800): Jones was regularly a running back in the $7,000 range in 2020 and had even crept up above that during his hots stretches. Seeing him at $6,800 here makes little sense, as the only rationale would be the offseason ambiguity we saw in Green Bay this summer. For a player with weekly RB1 overall upside, this is a great discount.

Antonio Gibson, RB, Washington Football Team ($5,900): The offseason hype train for Gibson has continued to gain steam and with the belief that he’s stepping into a potential three-down role for an offense with a surprising amount of firepower and an elite defense, we could see him flirt with 20 touches Week 1 for under $6,000.

Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals ($4,700): Sure, Higgins is facing more competition for targets with Ja’Marr Chase in town, but Higgins showed phenomenal rapport with Joe Burrow last season, eclipsing at least 10 DraftKings points in seven of 11 games with his quarterback last season.

DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles ($4,500): It’s not often you get a team’s No. 1 wide receiver for $4,500 and frankly, it’s as simple as that. While Jalen Hurts will run quite a bit and won’t air it out 40 times per game, Smith should immediately step into a target share around 25%, making this price one of the biggest misprices of the week.

Randall Cobb, WR, Green Bay Packers ($3,900): With the recent trade to the Packers, Cobb should have a far more secure role than he would’ve with the quarterback ambiguity in Houston. While his ceiling may be a bit capped, we know the importance of Cobb to Aaron Rodgers, and getting the slot receiver for $3,900 against a susceptible Saints secondary up the middle makes for a great cash-game value play.

Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta Falcons ($4,400): See above.
