The Denver Broncos will look to make an impact in 2021 with a retooled defense and a new face at quarterback. Teddy Bridgewater is leading the offense this year after beating out incumbent Drew Lock for the starting gig and will try to lead a franchise back to the playoffs for the first time since 2015. The Broncos kick-off the season as 2.5-point road favorites vs the New York Giants.

Super Bowl Odds Update – Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have the unfortunate reality of not making the postseason since 2015 — when they made it last time, they won the Super Bowl over the Carolina Panthers. Since then, they’re a collective 32-48 in the standings. Entering the 2021 season, the Broncos have +5000 odds to win Super Bowl 56 at BetMGM.

  • Week 1: +5000
  • Preseason: +5000

Broncos futures odds

The main futures markets to pay attention to for the Denver Broncos are odds to win the AFC West, AFC conference odds and if they can make the playoffs.

For the AFC West, they trail the Super Bowl favorite Kansas City Chiefs (-280) and Los Angeles Chargers (+450) to win the AFC South at +700 and are ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders, who are last in divisional odds at +1800. They have a shot to surprise some teams, but Denver needs to win games within the division as it finished 1-5 in games against those three squads in 2020.

As for AFC Conference odds, the Broncos are far down the list to get back to the Super Bowl and sit at +2500 odds at BetMGM to pull it off. That’s the 11th-best odds in the conference and seems highly unlikely given the two teams ahead of them in their own division.

Finally, the Broncos could be a sneaky bet to make the playoffs in the AFC due to their emerging defense and above-average offense. They have +150 odds to make the AFC playoffs which isn’t great considering they went 5-11 last year and play in the AFC West. Out of these three NFL futures markets, the Broncos’ playoff odds make the most sense with how murky the middle of the pack teams are in the AFC, but it should be closer to +200.

Von Miller NFL Comeback Player of the Year odds

Although he’s a bit past his prime as a game wrecker, Broncos defensive end Von Miller could be a great candidate to bounce back for NFL Comeback Player of the Year. The former Defensive Player of the Year suffered an ankle injury in training camp last season and didn’t play a regular season snap. All reports out of Denver say he’s back to his explosive self and should bookend Bradley Chubb on the defensive line to wreak havoc on offensive lineman.

Looking at the Broncos schedule, they start off by playing three teams with below-average offensive lines in the Giants, Jaguars and Jets which could put Miller in a very actionable position to lead the NFL in sacks to start the season. If Miller comes out strong and the Broncos are 3-0, he’ll be in the forefront of the conversation of NFL Comeback Player of the Year. At +2000 odds at BetMGM, it’s worth a bet at this stage.

Denver Broncos betting trends

The Broncos are coming off a season where even though they finished 5-11 in the standings, they were a reliable spread most weeks. They finished 9-7 against the spread in 2020 and 5-3 ATS in road games.

Totals bettors didn’t find much of an edge for this squad last year as the Broncos had an 8-8 O/U record despite finishing as a bottom-five offense and bottom-10 defense. Oddsmakers were especially sharp in generating lines for the totals in games involving Denver with an average closing total of 44.7.

Here are the updated trends from the 2020 season:

  • 9-7 ATS
  • 8-8 on Totals
