Lamar Jackson A Must-Start Against Raiders

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson posted a QB1-worthy performance on the opening night of the NFL's regular season and he'll aim to be even better in the team's first home game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The two-time MVP will get plenty of running opportunities on top of a bit of an easier matchup to throw the ball. The game script in Week 1 consisted of a lot of short throws, especially to Zay Flowers, but after shaking off some rust, the Ravens offense should be able to find some more open avenues down the field. His average target depth clocked in at 7.5 yards in Week 1 which was down a bit from 8.9 yards per game last season. Look for the passing attack to get in a better rhythm while Jackson's ground game continues to thrive against a weaker run defense. Fantasy managers can consider him a QB1 heading into Week 2.

DeAndre Hopkins Says He's Dealing With A Sprain

Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (knee) said his knee injury is a sprain similar to an ankle sprain, and it isn't a tear. Hopkins played in the Week 1 loss to the Chicago Bears despite entering with a questionable tag, but he played only 27% of the offensive snaps, which was fourth among Titans pass-catchers. It led to just one catch on his only target for an eight-yard gain. The 32-year-old veteran and five-time Pro Bowler clearly wasn't fully healthy. However, he's off the Week 2 injury report entirely and is expected to have a much bigger role in Week 2 against the New York Jets. Fantasy managers should expect Hopkins to be more involved on offense this Sunday, but his conditioning is still a question mark, and the matchup against the Jets isn't idea. Hopkins' fantasy stock is certainly down in 2024, but he should be a slightly more attractive WR4/flex another week removed from his knee sprain.

DeAndre Hopkins Expected To Be Closer To 100% In Week 2

Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan said on Wednesday that veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (knee) should be closer to full-go for the Week 2 game against the New York Jets, but the team will still be mindful of what they ask him to do as he gets into shape. As a result, Callahan said he sees Hopkins' role growing in practice and this coming Sunday after he played just 27% of the offensive snaps in the Week 1 loss to the Chicago Bears, which ranked fourth behind Calvin Ridley, Tyler Body, and even Treylon Burks. The 32-year-old finished with just one catch on his only target for eight yards. Expect to see Hopkins on the field more this weekend, but against one of the best secondaries in the league, fantasy managers would probably be wise to keep Hopkins on their benches as he continues to work past a knee injury. Hopkins practiced in full on Wednesday.

Lamar Jackson Spotted At Wednesday's Practice

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (soreness) was not at Monday's practice while dealing with general soreness. However, he is back on the practice field on Wednesday, which should ease any concerns that fantasy managers had early in the week. Jackson had a strong Week 1 performance against the Kansas City Chiefs, throwing for 273 yards and a touchdown and rushing 16 times for 122 yards. The two-time MVP remains a must-start fantasy option in all matchups, as he can pay off in fantasy football despite down weeks as a passer. Baltimore hosts the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2, and he has overall QB1 upside.

Ravens To Manage Derrick Henry's Workload In 2024

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh stated that running back Derrick Henry will not be overloaded this season like he has in years past with the Tennessee Titans. Henry finished Week 1 with 13 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown. That is a far cry difference from his former workload. It is understandable that the Ravens would curb Henry's workload. They are playing for February rather than September. Still, it is unfortunate for fantasy managers that Henry will not receive the same volume we have grown accustomed to. Hopefully, he can be efficient with his touches in 2024.
