Check out my 2025 rookie quarterback article if you missed it. Sometimes, with weaker classes, like the rookie quarterbacks, it’s tough to find enough to say. That’s not the case with these running backs. I will be covering all major fantasy positions in this series, and this is easily the best position of the four. Make no mistake about it: The 2025 rookie running back class is a good one.

Tier 1
To kick things off, we have one guy in Tier 1, which will come as no surprise. If you unplug in the offseason, you still have heard of this guy.
1. Ashton Jeanty, Boise State
As much as I enjoy spewing hot takes from time to time, especially with rookie prospects, you aren’t going to find that here. Ashton Jeanty is a damn good running back, and poking holes in his game just isn’t something that comes easy. He is a tough, instinctive runner with great contact vision and balance. He makes the first miss, keeps those legs churning, and can turn nothing into something. Very capable of pass-catching as well and never needs to come off the field.
I would differ from the masses in that I do not think he is a generational prospect. He is a great running back who will start for a long time, but folks need to pump the brakes a bit; I would not take him at 1.01 in a dynasty superflex rookie draft. I have mentioned it before, but the level of competition matters, and while the production is there, it’s undoubtedly against lesser competition. I’m not knocking him too hard — he’s one of the more talented guys in this draft. I question his ability to be a top-three dynasty RB out of the gate.
