Mark Williams No Longer In A Walking Boot

Charlotte Hornets forward Mark Williams (foot) is no longer in a walking boot. The 2022 No. 15 overall pick suffered a strained tendon in his left foot during a workout and missed training camp. He will continue to rehab and will be re-evaluated before the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign. Williams was nearly a double-double producer last season. However, he appeared in only 19 games before a season-ending back injury put him on the shelf. While Williams has talent, his inability to stay healthy will continue to compromise his fantasy stock moving ahead. With that in mind, Nick Richards, averaging 10.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 51 starts last season, will hold things down in the middle until Williams can get back on the floor.

Mark Williams Suffers Another Injury

Charlotte Hornets center Mark Williams (foot) will miss training camp after suffering a strained tendon in his left foot during a workout on Thursday. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks, although he remains without a return date. The 2022 No. 15 overall pick has shown promise since entering the league, most recently averaging 12.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 2023-24. Unfortunately, he was limited to only 19 games before suffering a season-ending back injury in December. Without Williams in the mix, Nick Richards, averaging 10.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 51 starts last season, will likely hold things down in the middle. With that in mind, Williams' health is always a concern. Still, he's worth taking later in fantasy drafts for those willing to stash him until he's ready to get back on the court.

Mark Williams "Feeling Better"

Charlotte Hornets center Mark Williams (back), while taking questions from the media on Monday, stated he does not need surgery. He also said "he's definitely feeling better" and plans to play every game next season. While Williams' proclamation regarding his availability throughout the 2024-25 campaign could be a stretch, fantasy managers are still glad to hear things are moving in the right direction. The 22-year-old averaged a career-high 12.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks this season. However, Williams was limited to only 19 games because of a back injury. With that said, he's not worth reaching for in fantasy drafts, but he could easily surpass his ADP expectations if he stays healthy.
