Georges Niang Unavailable Friday For Hawks

Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Networkreports that Atlanta Hawks forwardGeorges Niang won't debut with his new club on Friday versus the Milwaukee Bucks. The trade that recently sent him from the Cavs is still being finalized. Niang's next chance to play is on Saturday on the road versus the Wizards in Washington. The 31-year-old, across 51 games in Cleveland, averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 20.6 minutes per contest. His role with his new team is uncertain, so he will likely have a limited impact on fantasy for now.

Georges Niang Joins The Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks acquired forward Georges Niang along with Caris LeVert, three second-round picks, and two swaps in exchange for De'Andre Hunter. Hunter became expendable after the emergence of Jalen Johnson before his season-ending shoulder injury and the strong rookie showing of No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher. Niang and LeVert could help fill in while Johnson is out, but more likely they'll mix into the second unit behind Risacher. Niang played 51 games for the Cavs this season, starting just one contest. He averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in his 20.6 minutes per game. If he steps into a larger role, he could be a decent source of three-pointers and rebounds, but his role with his new team is uncertain at this point.
