Dallas Mavericks center Anthony Davis (adductor) was already expected to be out "multiple" weeks in an earlier report from Shams Charania and Tim McMahon from ESPN. In their latest report that confirmed Daniel Gafford (knee) is out for six weeks, they also said that sources told them Davis is expected to miss "at least four weeks." The report also suggests that the Mavericks are going to be cautious about Davis' recovery since he was the headlining piece in the trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. Kessler Edwards got the start at center in their last game while Naji Marshall and Olivier-Maxence Prosper saw a big increase in opportunities as well.

Fortunately for the Mavericks, Davis was injured only a week before the All-Star break, but he is still set to miss significant time. Davis has joined Dereck Lively II (ankle) on the sidelines. On Monday against the Sacramento Kings, the frontcourt will also be missing P.J. Washington (ankle), leaving Daniel Gafford with a heavy workload.

Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis (adductor) won't play on Monday night versus Sacramento. AD made his Mavericks debut on Saturday versus the Rockets. He had an excellent showing, amassing 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks. Unfortunately, Davis suffered an adductor strain in that one and was ruled out for the remain of the contest. It's unknown how much time he'll miss. If P.J. Washington (ankle) suits up, he'll likely slide back to the four spot. But if Washington is also out, Naji Marshall, who had 16 points on Saturday, should continue to benefit from an offensive standpoint.
