Cameron Johnson Trade Talks "Have Stalled"

Brooklyn Nets forward Cameron Johnson remains on the roster despite rumors of his eventual trade. The 28-year-old was reportedly mentioned in a trade involving Cleveland Cavaliers forward Isaac Okoro. However, according to NBA reporter Jed Katz, discussions between the Nets and Cavs "have stalled." Johnson is coming off a down year, averaging 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. He was also limited to only 58 games due to injury and spent time coming off the bench. It appears Johnson has already played his final game in Brooklyn. Either way, the 2019 No. 11 overall pick has work to do to convince fantasy managers he's ready to turn things around, regardless of where he plays in the 2024-25 campaign.

Jalen Duren "Scratching The Surface"

According to Detroit Pistons head coach JB Bickerstaff, center Jalen Duren still has untapped potential. "And then Jalen Duren, I think we're just scratching the surface with what I think he's going to be able to do," said Bickerstaff during a recent podcast. "He's really, really ball-skilled." The 2022 No. 13 overall pick had the best season of his career in 2023-24, averaging 13.8 points and 11.6 rebounds. However, he still has some work to do, especially on the defensive end. Duren's durability has also been questioned, with the 20-year-old playing 128 games in his first two seasons. But with Bickerstaff at the helm, a coach who oversaw the development of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen in Cleveland, Duren has a chance to improve statistically in 2024-25.

Jalen Brunson Should Be Ready For Training Camp

New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson (hand) should be a full participant in training camp, according to SNY's Ian Begley. The 2018 No. 33 overall pick had a stellar season in 2023-24, averaging a career-high 28.7 points and 6.7 assists with 3.6 rebounds. He also shot 40.1% from behind the three-point line. Unfortunately, Brunson suffered a fractured left hand during the postseason. But he has been committed to getting healthy this summer, so he shouldn't have any restrictions when the 2024-25 campaign kicks off in October. With that in mind, the 27-year-old should be a consistent source of production for fantasy managers this season, considering he's expected to be involved in the MVP conversation.

Julius Randle Likely To Be Ready For Season Opener

According to SNY's Ian Begley, New York Knicks forward Julius Randle (shoulder) should be ready to go when the season begins on October 22. Randle has been a potent statistical producer for the Knicks over the years, most recently averaging 24.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists during the 2023-24 campaign. However, he suffered a shoulder injury at the beginning of 2024, resulting in surgery. While Randle likely won't be ready for training camp or participate in preseason games, the latest report from Begley is encouraging for fantasy managers. With that said, the roster looks different from the last time the 29-year-old was on the floor, meaning his production could regress somewhat in 2024-25. It may also take him time to find his rhythm early in the year after the lengthy layoff.

Patty Mills Signing With Utah

Free-agent guard Patty Mills agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Jazz. The 36-year-old started last season with the Hawks but was waived. He eventually signed with the Heat, playing in 13 regular season contests and averaging 5.8 points and 1.5 assists. The Jazz have a young backcourt featuring Keyonte George, Isaiah Collier, and Collin Sexton, so it will be difficult for anyone to get minutes. But Mills will provide invaluable leadership and guidance to a team in rebuilding mode. However, his days as a reliable fantasy option have been over for years.
