NBA Best Bets of the Day (1/17)

The NBA has only a small four-game slate on tap for Tuesday evening. We do have some fun matchups to watch with the Sixers staying in LA to face the Clippers and Toronto possibly seeing a fully healthy Milwaukee team. The Raptors and Bucks game is slow on the release of the player props due to the uncertain status of both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton.

Best NBA Spread Bet

Toronto Raptors +4.5

(-110, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Khris Middleton has not played in over a month. Giannis Antetokounmpo missed the last three games. Both guys are questionable here. I would expect them both to play after sitting the front end of the back-to-back Monday. One or both may miss the game and that would make the Raptors a much smaller dog if they did. Even if both play, we have not seen the best of Giannis in recent games and Middleton will likely need to kick the rust of being out before stepping back into a 35 minute per night role. At full strength I would say -5 is warranted. The Bucks are at less than full strength, so there is value on the Toronto side.

Best NBA Assist Prop Bet

Kyrie Irving Over 5.5 Assists

(+100, BetRivers)

Kyrie Irving has topped 5.5 assists in five straight games. He draws a very good matchup against a high-paced Spurs team that is one of the league’s worst defensively. This game has the second-highest total on the board and Kyrie has seen at least 38 minutes in each of the last five. Even money seems like too low of a price given the matchup and his recent production.

Best NBA Points Prop Bet

Keldon Johnson Under 23.5 Points

(-115, FanDuel Sportsbook)

I am not quite sure why Keldon Johnson‘s number is this high. The matchup is not particularly good. He is not efficient with slash lines of 42%/34%/77%. He does not take 20 shots per game, barely averages five free throws, and is not a knock down shooter from deep. He has only topped 23.5 once in the last four games and that was barely with 24 points against the Grizzlies in a game that finished in the 260 range. He averages only 21.5 on the season too. He has played pretty well this year, but the number should be at least a point or two lower.
