Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer starred in the team's 8-7 win over the Athletics on Saturday, going 2-for-3 with two solo home runs. He added a walk and an additional run scored. Springer's homers, both of which came against right-hander Gunnar Hoglund, traveled a combined 850 feet of distance. While Springer had a rough month of May with just 18 hits in 86 at-bats, the four-time All-Star has still enjoyed a nice bounce-back year after a subpar 2024. Springer is off to a .257/.374/.480 start with eight homers, 23 RBI, seven steals, and a career-high 14.9% walk rate over 208 plate appearances. The 33-year-old has an appealing matchup against Athletics left-hander JP Sears (5.18 ERA) on Sunday.

The Toronto Blue Jays are expected to call up left fielder Davis Schneider prior to Sunday's game against the Athletics, according to Ari Alexander of KPRC. Schneider had an impressive 1.007 OPS during his rookie campaign in 2023, but he has struggled at the major league level ever since. He recorded just one hit through 10 games with Toronto earlier this year before being demoted. Meanwhile, at Triple-A, he's slashing a modest .226/.346/.391 with a 14.5 percent walk rate and 28.9 percent strikeout rate. The 26-year-old should continue to walk at an impressive rate, but he'll also likely continue to strike out at a high clip while failing to showcase significant power.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho (hamstring) was removed early during Saturday's game against the Athletics. Varsho was taken out in the third inning after he appears to have suffered a hamstring injury when running the bases. He finished the game 1-for-1 with a double and a walk. The expectation is that Varsho will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury. For now, fantasy managers should consider Varsho as day-to-day until further notice. Myles Straw took over for Varsho in the outfield and figures to see more playing time if he does miss time because of the hamstring issue.

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk will get the day off on Saturday versus the visiting Athletics at Rogers Centre. Ali Sanchez will do the catching for right-hander Braydon Fisher and will bat ninth against A's rookie right-hander Gunnar Hoglund. Kirk has minimal power for a catcher but is hitting a strong .296 (48-for-162) on the year as Toronto's primary catcher, including going 9-for-21 (.429) with four RBI and three runs scored in his last eight games since May 22. Sanchez, 28, will get the nod behind the plate on Saturday for just his fourth game of the season in his first year in Toronto. He's gone 2-for-8 so far with a double and three strikeouts. Sanchez has played in just 41 big-league games since debuting in 2020 with the New York Mets and has hit .181 (19-for-105) with no home runs and four RBI in 118 plate appearances.

Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement stayed hot on Friday, going 4-for-5 with a homer and a double in an 11-7 win over the Athletics. Clement has had quite a series so far, going 7-for-10 with two homers, two doubles, and six RBI in the first two games. It is also worth noting that Clement is absolutely torching left-handed pitching this year, as he was batting .362 with a 1.043 OPS and two homers against them coming into this one before homering and doubling off lefty Jeffrey Springs. All that said, he still hasn't provided much for fantasy and is likely just on a mini-hot streak right now. Outside of the deepest of leagues, Clement can be left on the waiver wire.
