Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter George Springer is not in the team's starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. Nathan Lukes will start in left field for the Jays and hit ninth against Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom, while first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is serving as the designated hitter and batting second. Springer has been a solid contributor for fantasy managers and Toronto in 2025, but he could use a mental break while struggling at the plate recently. The 35-year-old veteran has gone 2-for-29 (.069) with a double, stolen base, two runs scored and seven strikeouts in 10 games since May 15. Springer should be back in action on Tuesday in Texas as he looks to break his current slump. Lukes has never faced deGrom in his career, while Guerrero has a hit and an RBI in just three career at-bats.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer had a .206 average and .578 OPS on May 11 of last year, but things have been different so far in 2025. Springer hit three home runs in the team's three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners over the weekend and raised his OPS back over .900. The 35-year-old veteran is swinging at pitches in the zone 8.2% less, chasing 6.4% less and seeing more pitches per plate appearance than all but 34 MLB hitters, per The Athletic's Mitch Bannon. Springer has the highest walk rate of his career and is batting .387 against fastballs with 71% of his extra-base hits coming against the pitch. Three of Springer's five homers on the year have come in nine games in May, and he's hitting .273 (9-for-33) in the month so far. Along with a move down in the batting order, whatever mechanical adjustments he's made in 2025 have been paying off.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer kept up his torrid start to the season, going 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and two runs in Sunday's 9-1 win over the Mariners. The veteran is now slashing .297/.404/.517 with five home runs and six stolen bases on the year. This is looking like a true resurgence for the former superstar, after many wrote him off after he hit .220 in 2024. It's unlikely he keeps up this pace for the whole year, but he will still be a valuable asset for fantasy as a potential 20-homer and 20-steal threat.
