2024 Team Stats

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho got a late start to the season and has only played 20 games, but he has looked determined to make up for the lost time by mashing multiple extra-base hits as fast as he can. He homered and doubled as part of his 3-for-5 performance on Monday night in Texas. His batting average is only .218, largely due to a .191 BABIP that should return closer to league average (around .300) as the season goes on. He has eight home runs, four doubles, and a triple in his 78 at-bats with only four singles. His .385 ISO and .341 wOBA are fueled by his 18.2% barrel rate and 45.5% hard-hit rate. If his non-extra base hits start finding more holes, his average should trend upwards, and his power production already makes him a nice play in the outfield if you are looking for help on the waiver wire.

New York Yankees pitcher Ryan Yarbrough turned in his best start of the season in Monday's 5-1 win over the Angels. Yarbrough pitched six innings, allowing one run on two hits (including a solo home run) and a walk with seven strikeouts. The 33-year-old started the season out of the bullpen but has made four consecutive starts and is 2-0 with a 3.06 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, and an 8.92 K/9 rate in 35 1/3 IP. Yarbrough has been a useful fantasy streamer at times throughout his career and has a great offense backing him. However, his next scheduled start will be much tougher at the Dodgers, so fantasy managers should sit him even if they are interested in picking him up.

The Athletic's Mitch Bannon thinks Toronto Blue Jays rookie left-handed reliever Mason Fluharty could get more opportunities in high-leverage spots with right-hander Yimi Garcia (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list. Fluharty has only 2 1/3 innings of high-leverage work this year, but he's allowed a batting average under .175 to all hitters. The 23-year-old southpaw struggled at times against righties in the minor leagues, but his cutter has become a weapon against them now and is using the pitch almost 70% of the time against righties. Fluharty has earned more opportunities later in games and is one to keep an eye on in fantasy leagues that count holds. The former fifth-rounder in 2022 out of Liberty has a 3.86 ERA (3.08 FIP) and 0.90 WHIP with 20 strikeouts and eight walks in his first 21 relief innings in the big leagues in 2025.

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman has been extremely solid on the mound over his last two starts. On Monday, Gausman tossed eight innings, allowing one earned run on six hits, while striking out six batters in the win. The right-hander has been showing great command lately as he hasn't walked a batter in four straight starts. Gausman has struck out six batters or more in three straight appearances. He made easy work of the Texas Rangers on Monday and will look to keep the good times rolling against the A's in his next start.

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah (elbow) is throwing two bullpen sessions a week and has recently pushed past 40 pitches, according to The Athletic's Mitch Bannon. Manoah is currently working on getting a feel for his pitches, commanding the strike zone and simulating plate appearances and pitch sequencing after having Tommy John surgery in June of 2024. Toronto is hoping the 27-year-old can be an option for their big-league team in August. He had a disastrous 2023 season while battling mechanical issues before posting a 3.70 ERA in five starts last year. Manoah feels more in tune with his delivery during his lengthy recovery from elbow surgery, but how well he can command his pitches when he returns will be the deciding factor on whether he can be a fantasy option yet again. Manoah was an All-Star in 2022 but walked more than six batters per nine innings in 2023.
