2024 Team Stats

The San Francisco Giants placed right-hander Keaton Winn (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 21) on Saturday with right-elbow inflammation. Winn will head to the shelf after allowing five earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out two in just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals at Rickwood Field in Alabama on Thursday. It's the second time that the 26-year-old has been on the injured list already this year, and it leaves the Giants' starting rotation dangerously thin. It's unclear who will replace Winn in the rotation as we head closer to the All-Star break next month. Winn hasn't even been much of an option in NL-only leagues in 2024, as he's gone 3-8 with a bloated 7.16 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 48 strikeouts and 20 walks in 55 1/3 innings over his 12 starts in his second year in the big leagues.

The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Mike Yastrzemski (oblique) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to June 21) on Saturday with a left-oblique strain and recalled infielder David Villar and outfielder Luis Matos from Triple-A Sacramento in corresponding moves. Yastrzemski was removed from Thursday's contest with his oblique injury and he didn't play on Friday before landing on the IL on Saturday. The 33-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder will now likely miss more than the 10 days on the IL with his injury, and we may not see him again until after the All-Star break in mid-July. With Yaz now out, expect Austin Slater to pick up the most playing time in the outfield in the Bay Area. Yastrzemski is really only useful in deeper fantasy leagues against right-handed pitching. He hits the shelf with a .224/.304/.406 slash line with seven homers and 28 RBI in 192 at-bats this year.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos went 1-for-5 with a homer, a run, and three RBI in a 6-5 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. Ramos has been electric since his call-up in early May, slashing .307/.382/.553 with 17 runs, 10 homers, and 35 RBI in just 150 at-bats. He has worked his way into an integral spot at the top of the Giants lineup and is unlikely to be moved out of that spot if he can keep hitting well. Selling high could be an option for fantasy managers, but his underlying metrics are excellent and outfield is a weak position, so hanging onto him and hoping this is who Ramos truly is could be the best option.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski (side) left Thursday's game at Rickwood Field against the St. Louis Cardinals due to a side injury. Yastrzemski exited the contest in the fourth inning, and he was replaced in the lineup by Austin Slater. Fantasy managers should deem Yastrzemski day-to-day until a more specific diagnosis is revealed, but the outfielder does have a day off on Friday to recuperate before this series with the Cardinals resumes on Saturday in St. Louis. The 33-year-old left-handed hitter hasn't made a big impact for the Giants since bursting onto the scene back in 2019 and 2020, slashing just .224/.304/.406 with 17 extra-base hits, 28 RBI, 43 runs scored, and one stolen base over 192 at-bats in 2024. Slater would see an uptick in ABs if Yastrzemski is forced to miss additional action.

San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada is not in Thursday's lineup as the Giants open a three-game set against the St. Louis Cardinals at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama. Estrada has made 14 consecutive starts and will give keystone duties to Brett Wisely this evening. During this stretch, the 28-year-old has struggled with a .211/.250/.316 slash line with just one home run and eight RBI. Through 71 games this season, Estrada has posted a modest .240/.272/.396 line with nine long balls. Wisely will bat in the leadoff spot and has held a strong .299/.321/.442 line through 25 games this season. The 25-year-old infielder is worth a look in DFS this evening as he will face Andre Pallante, who has posted a high 5.56 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 11 innings this month.
