LaMonte Wade Jr. Expected To Come Off Injured List On Friday

San Francisco Giants first baseman/outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. (hamstring) is expected to come off the 10-day injured list on Friday. Wade will return to the Giants after missing the last month of action due to a Grade 2 left-hamstring strain. The 30-year-old left-handed hitter went 1-for-7 with four walks and two strikeouts in three minor-league rehab games with Triple-A Sacramento before getting the green light to return to the big leagues this weekend. His return will push veteran infielder Wilmer Flores back into more of a utility role for San Fran. If Wade is available on your league's waiver wire, he's surely worth a pickup, as he's going to play regularly after slashing .333/.470/.426 with an .896 OPS in his first 129 at-bats this year.

Michael Conforto Sitting Against Lefty

San Francisco Giants outfielder Michael Conforto and infielders Brett Wisely and David Villar are all sitting on Thursday against the visiting Chicago Cubs with left-hander Shota Imanaga on the mound in the series finale. Austin Slater is starting in left field and batting leadoff, Nick Ahmed is at shortstop and hitting eighth, and Thairo Estrada is at second base and batting seventh for the Gigantes. Conforto has swung a hot and productive bat for the Giants of late, but he'll take a seat against a southpaw despite the fact that he's hitting .292 (14-for-48) with three of his nine homers against lefties in 2024. The matchup against Imanaga isn't ideal, but Slater becomes a DFS sleeper out of the leadoff spot on Thursday. He's gone 10-for-56 (.179) with only four RBI against left-handers this year.

Patrick Bailey Getting A Breather Against Cubs

San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey will have the day off in a matinee affair in Thursday's series finale against the visiting Chicago Cubs. Curt Casali will take his place behind the dish to catch right-hander Jordan Hicks while batting ninth against Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga. Bailey has proven to be one of the more productive hitting catchers in the big leagues this year, as he's currently batting .285 (51-for-179) with six home runs, 24 RBI and 23 runs scored in 55 games in just his second season in the major leagues. The 25-year-old switch-hitter has gone 18-for-69 (.261) with two home runs, a double and five RBI in 20 games in the month of June. DFS managers should be able to find better options at catcher than Casali in the nine-hole in a tough matchup against Imanaga.

Camilo Doval Notches 14th Save

San Francisco Giants closer Camilo Doval pitched a scoreless ninth inning to nail down the victory and pick up the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Cubs. It was Doval's 14th save of the year. While it was his fifth straight conversion, he has had some rough outings this season including a non-save situation on June 16 in which he allowed four earned runs on four hits and two walks, with that outing marking the second time this season he's allowed four earned runs in an appearance. As such, the 26-year-old is sporting a 4.40 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and 12.0% K-BB% on the season.

Luis Matos Homers In Win Wednesday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos turned in a solid game in his team's 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. Matos went 2-for-3 with a solo homer to help propel his team to victory. The 22-year-old's homer in the fifth inning broke a 3-3 tie and wound up being the difference in the ballgame for the Giants. Matos is hitting .253 with three homers, 10 runs, and 21 RBI across 99 at-bats in 2024. He has been swinging a hot bat of late, hitting .381 over his past seven contests. Matos is worth a look in NL-only formats while he's hot at the plate.
