San Diego Padres first baseman Luis Arraez (concussion) is expected to be activated from the seven-day concussion injured list on Tuesday before the team's series opener against the division-rival San Francisco Giants at Petco Park. Arraez was placed on the IL early last week after colliding with Mauricio Dubon last Sunday, but he has recovered well from the scary collision and should be back in SD's injury-riddled starting lineup against the Giants. Fantasy managers will want to double-check the lineup before reinserting him in their lineups. When Arraez returns, Gavin Sheets should revert to being the team's primary designated hitter against right-handed pitchers. After another slow start in the first week-plus of the season, the 28-year-old Arraez has recovered and is now slashing .287/.330/.425 with three homers, seven RBI, two steals and nine runs. Arraez doesn't offer much outside of a high batting average.

San Diego Padres outfielder Jackson Merrill (hamstring) was able to take batting practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. This is a positive step forward for Merrill who is working his way back from a right hamstring strain. The hope is that Merrill can get into some minor league games within the next few days. If everything goes well, Merrill should be able to get back in the Padres lineup in the early stages of May. Fantasy managers should continue to hold Merrill as he should be back in the mix soon.

Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Ha-Seong Kim (shoulder) is targeting a June/July return to the lineup for the Rays. He is reportedly doing well in his rehab from offseason shoulder surgery last October to fix a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Although he has not seen any game action, he has been throwing, hitting, and taking ground balls since March. The Rays will likely want to get him some minor league action before his return, and if that is the case, the Rays will try to get him playing by mid-May, if he is targeting a June/July return. Kim, a career .242/.326/.380 hitter, will likely take over daily shortstop duties for the Rays upon his return. Kim is a decent stash in 14-plus team leagues or should solely be relied on as a base stealer in category leagues.

Chicago White Sox left-hander Martin Perez (elbow), who was moved to the 60-day injured list on Monday, will not have Tommy John surgery, a source told ESPN's Jess Rogers. Perez could resume throwing again in September, but he will not make it back to the big leagues in 2025. With the 34-year-old southpaw potentially also not being ready for the start of next season, the White Sox will surely decline their $10 million mutual option for the 2026 season in time. The Venezuelan hurler should have only been rostered in AL-only fantasy leagues before his injury. In his four starts for the Pale Hose before suffering a season-ending left-elbow injury, Perez was pitching well, posting a 3.15 ERA (3.69 FIP) and 1.25 WHIP with 18 strikeouts and 11 walks in 20 innings pitched. He can officially be dropped in AL-only formats.

Arraez is in the league's concussion protocol after colliding with Houston Astros utility man Mauricio Dubon at first base in Sunday's victory. In a scary scene, the 28-year-old two-time batting champion had to be put on a stretcher and taken to the hospital on Sunday. The good news is that Arraez rejoined the team after Sunday's game and was seen walking in the clubhouse. He said that everything checked out fine at the hospital. Arraez will still be forced to miss a week of action, but there's a chance he could be ready to go when he's eligible to come off the IL. In the meantime, SD could use a combination of Connor Joe, Yuli Gurriel and Gavin Sheets at first base and designated hitter. Sheets is at first and Oscar Gonzalez is the DH for Monday's series opener against the Detroit Tigers.
