San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado had a big day at the plate on Monday as his team beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-4. He went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI, a walk and three runs. His home run was a two-run shot in the first inning against Cardinals starter Kyle Gibson. Machado has had a solid season on the plate but has been exceptional lately. In his last seven games, he is slashing .333/.429/.667 with two homers, six RBI, and a 4:3 BB: K. If Machado can keep this up, he will look to help lead the Padres to an NL Wild Card birth.
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado is back in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The All-Star slugger will return to the hot corner after getting a rest day on Monday. His return will send Donovan Solano back to the bench. Machado didn't have the ideal first half of the season, but he has turned it around over the last month or so. Machado is hitting .276 with eight home runs and 23 RBI in his last 30 games. The Padres will need Machado to keep hitting like this down the stretch of the season. He'll bat cleanup against right-hander Luis L. Ortiz on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should check their lineups and get Machado back in there.
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This appears to be a regular rest day for Machado after he recorded three hits during their last series. Despite that, Machado has done a fairly nice job with the bat since the All-Star break. In his absence, Donovan Solano will cover the hot corner and bat fifth versus right-hander Jake Woodford. Fantasy managers who have Machado rostered should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Machado went 2-for-5 with two doubles, one run, and three RBI to help power the Padres to the win. His two-run double in the top of the 10th inning was a clutch one as it gave the Padres a 5-2 lead over the Marlins. Machado is now hitting .272 with 22 doubles, 18 homers, 57 runs, 67 RBI, and six steals across 423 at-bats. He's been swinging a hot bat of late, batting .349 with five homers and 15 RBI over his past 15 contests. He will look to stay hot on Saturday against Miami right-hander Roddery Munoz.
