The San Diego Padres have non-tendered left-handed pitcher Jay Groome. Groome was suspended for one season after violating the league's gambling policy. In 2023, the southpaw spent his entire campaign with Triple-A El Paso. Across 134 2/3 innings, the left-hander posted a high 8.55 ERA with a 2.10 WHIP. During this stint, he struck out 137 batters but served up a high 112 free passes. However, during the 2022 campaign, Groome showed potential at the Triple-A level.
