Houston Astros right-hander Hunter Brown turned in a quality start in a 7-6 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. Brown threw six shutout innings while striking out three, walking none, and scattering two hits in the contest. The veteran hurler unfortunately had to settle for a no-decision after handing a 4-0 lead to the Houston bullpen upon departing. Brown has been excellent for the Astros on the mound through three starts this season, posting a 1-1 record, 2.00 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts over 18 innings of work. He will look to keep it going in his next start, which is slated for Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Houston Astros starting pitcher Hunter Brown got off to a rough start during Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The right-hander gave up two runs in the first inning, but settled down nicely after that. Brown would follow that rough first frame with five scoreless innings to record his second quality start of the season. Brown allowed five hits, walked no one, and struck out eight batters in the win over Minnesota. He'll take a 3.00 ERA and 15 strikeouts through 12 innings into his next start against the Seattle Mariners.

Houston Astros starting pitcher Hunter Brown will be called upon to keep the team's playoff hopes alive in Wednesday's wild-card Game 2 against the Tigers. The 26-year-old enjoyed a strong second half of the regular season, bringing his totals to 11-9 with a 3.49 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and a 25.1% strikeout rate in 31 appearances (30 starts) and 170 innings pitched.
