Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (finger) is out of the starting lineup for a third straight game on Thursday in the series finale against the Baltimore Orioles at Dodger Stadium. Veteran utility man Enrique Hernandez will make another start at first and will hit sixth for the Blue against Orioles rookie left-hander Cade Povich. Freeman initially suffered a hairline fracture in his right middle finger on Aug. 17 but was playing through the injury before this week. In the six games that he's played in since the injury, though, he's gone 3-for-23 (.130) with two doubles, an RBI, two walks and seven strikeouts, so perhaps his finger is giving him more issues than initially expected. If Freeman ends up needing a stint on the injured list, Hernandez would soak up even more playing time in the final month of the regular season. Hernandez has hit just .218 in 303 at-bats in 2024 with nine homers and 33 RBI.UPDATE: Manager Dave Roberts said that Freeman will be back in the starting lineup for the start of a big series on Friday in Arizona against the Diamondbacks.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (finger) remains out of the starting lineup for the second straight day on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium against the visiting Baltimore Orioles. Enrique Hernandez will fill in at first base and will bat ninth against Orioles right-hander Corbin Burnes. Especially while residing down at the bottom of the order, Hernandez will be a poor DFS play for Wednesday's slate. He's also hitting .167 in six career at-bats against Burnes. The 34-year-old Freeman suffered a hairline fracture in his right middle finger on Aug. 17 but has played through it, although it could be giving him issues of late. In six games since fracturing his finger, Freeman has gone just 3-for-23 (.130) with two doubles, an RBI and seven strikeouts in 25 plate appearances. It's something to watch as we head toward the final month of the regular season in September.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. The 34-year-old is attempting to play through a fractured finger. However, Freeman is struggling with only three hits in his last six games. As a result, the Dodgers will give Freeman the night off to get rest and recover. Kike Hernandez will cover first base and bat eighth versus left-hander Cole Irvin. Hernandez has struggled with the bat this season, but his ability to play all over the field gives him value to this roster. He has three hits in his last two games, but Hernandez remains a risky streaming option for Tuesday.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (finger) is in the team's starting lineup on Monday against the Seattle Mariners at Dodger Stadium despite suffering a hairline fracture in his right middle finger on Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Freeman missed the series finale at Busch Stadium and was believed to need more time, but he's back in there after missing just one game. The 34-year-old surely isn't 100 percent and will be dealing with pain in his finger when he swings a bat, so it remains to be seen how effective he'll be at the plate moving forward. On top of it, Freeman has a tough matchup on Monday against Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo, so DFS gamers would be wise to look elsewhere. In single-year fantasy formats, Freeman is a must-start while entering the contest with a .292/.391/.488 slash line with an .879 OPS, 17 homers, 72 RBI, six steals and 69 runs scored in 428 at-bats.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (finger) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The veteran slugger will take the day off after jamming his finger on his throwing hand during Saturday's contest. Manager Dave Roberts said Freeman will get a CT scan on his hand when the team heads back to Los Angeles. The team doesn't seem too concerned, but will get extra testing to determine the severity of the issue. For now, fantasy managers should consider Freeman as day-to-day. Kike Hernandez will cover first base and bat seventh versus right-hander Sonny Gray on Sunday.
