Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin allowed four hits and four earned runs over four innings of work in his team's 6-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. He struck out three and walked five, but did not factor into the decision. Per MLB.com's Sonja Chen, Gonsolin picked dead skin off of his thumb after his pregame bullpen session but "got a little carried away and took some good skin with it." The fidgeting led to bleeding, which could explain why he matched his career high in free passes. Otherwise, the Halos got to him early in this one, with a Zach Neto dinger to lead off the game, and Taylor Ward lifting a two-run bomb three batters later. Gonsolin mostly settled down after that, but 97 pitches through four frames were enough to give him the hook. He'll get a chance to rebound in a tough road matchup against the New York Mets in his next start later this week. That is, as long as he's completely past this thumb issue.

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin pitched five scoreless innings in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Diamondbacks, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out four. Although his strikeouts decreased in this outing, holding a tough Diamondbacks offense to no runs is certainly something to be happy about. Gonsolin had two easy matchups against the Marlins in each of his first two starts, so this outing proved that those weren't flukes. The 30-year-old has been nothing but solid since returning to the mound for the first time since 2023, and should be rostered in most fantasy leagues with the Dodgers' offense backing him.

Instead of rolling with a bullpen game in Sunday's series finale against the division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-hander Tony Gonsolin will make his next start on four days of rest. Gonsolin was originally scheduled to take his next turn in the starting rotation on Tuesday against the Athletics, so this move represents a downgrade for fantasy streaming purposes. Not only will the 30-year-old veteran be pitching on short rest, but he'll be facing a Diamondbacks team that has the fourth-best OPS (.762) at their home ballpark. After a late start to the 2025 season due to injury, Gonsolin has been solid in two starts against the lowly Miami Marlins, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits (two homers) while walking only two and striking out 17 in 11 innings pitched.
