Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that he doesn't anticipate first baseman Freddie Freeman returning off the family medical emergency list during the team's two-game series in San Diego this week against the division-rival Padres that concludes on Wednesday. Fantasy managers will want to check back later in the week to see if Freeman is back with the team for their weekend series against the Oakland Athletics. The 34-year-old went on the family emergency list on Saturday and could miss up to seven full days as he attends to much more important family issues. Cavan Biggio made the start again at first base in the series opener on Tuesday against San Diego and should continue to do so until Freeman returns. Freeman remains a must-start in all fantasy formats when active for the Blue, as he's slashing .288/.395/.493 with an .888 OPS, 16 homers, 67 RBI and 63 runs scored in 104 games in 2024.
Los Angeles Dodgers superstar first baseman Freddie Freeman has been placed on the emergency family leave list by the team on Saturday. Freeman has returned to California to be with his family; his young son Maximus is battling an ailment called transient synovitis and is currently in the hospital working to get better. We here at RotoBaller wish all the best for the Freemans as they seek answers for their son's health.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Friday's game against the hosting Houston Astros that he doesn't expect first baseman Freddie Freeman (personal) to be back during this series. No decision has been made yet on if there will be a roster move to put him on the family emergency list. Freeman was originally in the Dodgers' lineup and was set to make his 105th start of the season on Friday against the Astros, but he needed to head back to Los Angeles as his family tends to an emergency regarding their three-year-old son. There's no timetable for Freeman's return, but both sides understand that the 34-year-old infielder should be at home with his family during this difficult time. His next real chance to rejoin the team will likely come during Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival San Diego Padres. In the meantime, Kike Hernandez and Cavan Biggio figure to draw the starts at the cold corner, depending on the matchup.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (personal) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Houston Astros. The veteran slugger has reportedly left the team to deal with a family issue. It's unclear how long Freeman is going to be gone while dealing with this problem. Cavan Biggio will take over at first base and bat seventh versus lefty Framber Valdez on Friday. Fantasy managers should get Freeman out of their lineups ahead of first pitch.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman provided all the offense for his team in a 4-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on Friday. Freeman went 1-for-4 with a grand slam to power LA to the win. The veteran first baseman's grand slam came off Boston reliever Brennan Bernardino in the eighth inning, erasing a 1-0 lead for the Red Sox. Freeman is having another excellent season, hitting .291 with 15 homers, 58 runs, 65 RBI, and five steals over 358 at-bats. He had been slumping over his past seven games, hitting just .154, so hopefully the grand slam on Friday will get his bat going again.
