Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) was seen participating in batting practice on Saturday, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Ardaya further reported that the first baseman should be expected to return to the starting nine on Sunday after sitting out earlier in the series due to an ankle injury. The 35-year-old has been dealing with a lingering ankle injury throughout October and has been unable to find consistency in the batter's box as he carries a mere .219/.242/.219 line through the postseason. During the regular season, the former World Series champion saw a slight decline in production but still boasted an excellent .282/.378/.476 slash line. Despite his recent struggles, Freeman will be a popular pick in DFS this evening as he will likely bat in the top half of the Los Angeles starting nine.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) is back at first base and is batting cleanup for the Dodgers in Game 5 of the National League Championship Series on Friday at Citi Field against New York Mets left-hander David Peterson. Freeman has been managing a right-ankle injury since the final week of the regular season and had the day off in the Game 4 win over the Mets on Thursday. The 35-year-old All-Star left-handed hitter will return on Friday, though, as the Dodgers look to punch their ticket to the 2024 World Series. Despite it being a lefty-lefty matchup, Freeman has fared quite well against Peterson in his career, going 6-for-19 (.316) against him with two home runs, five RBI, a walk and seven strikeouts. And even though Freeman hasn't been 100% in the playoffs, he's gone 7-for-27 with an RBI, walk, steal and a run scored.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) is not in the starting lineup for Game 4 of the National League Championship Series on Thursday at Citi Field against the New York Mets. Max Muncy will shift over to first base and bat sixth, while Enrique Hernandez will start at the hot corner and bat fifth against Mets left-hander Jose Quintana. Rookie Andy Pages is in center field and is hitting eighth. Freeman has been battling a right-ankle injury since the final week of the regular season and also was held out of one game during the NL Division Series against the Padres. Despite being less than 100%, Freeman has gone 7-for-27 (.259) with an RBI, a walk and a steal in seven playoff starts. Hernandez has homered twice while hitting .333 (7-for-21) this postseason, and he also has a homer and three RBI in 16 career at-bats against Quintana.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) is in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Monday at Dodger Stadium against the New York Mets. Freeman is at first base and is batting cleanup against Mets left-hander Sean Manaea. In a 9-0 blowout win over New York in Game 1 on Sunday night, the Dodgers pulled Freeman after seven innings to give him a little extra rest. The 35-year-old veteran has been playing through a right-ankle sprain in the playoffs that he suffered in the last week of the regular season and even skipped Game 4 of the NL Division Series because of the injury. It hasn't really affected his hitting, as Freeman has gone 6-for-17 with an RBI, steal and a run scored in five postseason games. In 17 career at-bats versus Manaea, Freeman has gone 5-for-17 with a homer, two RBI, one walk and four K's.
As expected, Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) is back at first base and is hitting third against San Diego Padres right-hander Yu Darvish in the deciding Game 5 of the National League Division Series on Friday. Freeman aggravated an ankle injury in Game 3 of the NLDS that has been bothering him since the last week of the regular season, and he was scratched from the lineup for the Game 4 win as a result. The 35-year-old All-Star slugger will try to give it a go in the winner-take-all showdown against the Friars despite being well below 100%. He's gone 3-for-11 with a stolen base and two strikeouts in three games played in the NLDS and has hit .250 (10-for-40) in his career off Darvish with three home runs, three doubles, four RBI, four walks and 10 strikeouts. DFS gamers will probably be looking to avoid Freeman because he's basically playing on one leg right now.
