San Diego Padres starting pitcher Dylan Cease (7-7) was chased early Tuesday night, picking up the loss after allowing six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in a 7-0 loss to the Texas Rangers. Cease gave up two home runs to Nathaniel Lowe in his short outing while being tagged for at least one run in all four innings that he pitched. It's been an ugly stretch for the 28-year-old veteran. After finishing June with a 4.94 ERA, Cease increased his season ERA to 4.26 after starting the year off with a 2.62 ERA at the end of April. It looked like a promising beginning for Cease in his first year with his new team. Hopefully, he can get back to the feel he had on the mound in April because he's too talented to be on waiver wires, but at the same time, he's also been hurting fantasy managers everywhere this summer. Look for him to get back on track against the Diamondbacks this weekend.
San Diego Padres pitcher Dylan Cease is lined up to face the Texas Rangers to open the team's three-game series on Tuesday. It is technically not Cease's turn in the rotation. However, with the injury to Randy Vasquez (forearm) and an off day on Monday, the right-hander will draw the start in the series opener. The 28-year-old is coming off one of his strongest starts of the year, as he tossed seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts against the Washington Nationals last week. He'll look to carry that momentum into Tuesday's start against a Rangers offense that ranks middle of the pack.
San Diego Padres right-hander Dylan Cease turned in a dominant start in an 8-5 win over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. Cease threw seven innings of shutout ball while allowing just one hit, walking two, and notching nine strikeouts. The 28-year-old hurler improved his record to 7-6 this season, to go along with a 3.84 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 125 strikeouts over 98 1/3 innings of work. Cease has been an excellent source for strikeouts in fantasy this season and should remain locked into starting lineups for his next start, which is set for Wednesday against the Texas Rangers.
San Diego Padres starting pitcher Dylan Cease racked up eight strikeouts and his sixth win Monday night in a 6-1 victory versus the Oakland Athletics while allowing eight hits and one walk. Cease has been everything the Padres hoped for when they traded for him just before the start of the season. After Monday night his ERA lies at 3.36 with a 1.00 WHIP and 101 strikeouts in 83 innings pitched. He has a lot of weight on his shoulders with all of the current injuries in the Padres rotation but his performance has certainly made up for all those losses. Cease faces an inconsistent New York Mets lineup this Sunday and should be loaded up in your fantasy lineup.
San Diego Padres starting pitcher Dylan Cease was impressive on the mound during Wednesday's game against the Chicago Cubs. The 28-year-old struck out a season-high 12 batters over seven shutout innings during the win. Cease only allowed one hit and a pair of walks during Wednesday's outing. He holds a 2.19 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 60/16 K/BB ratio across 49 1/3 innings this season. He'll get a favorable matchup against the Colorado Rockies during his next start.
