Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Christopher Sanchez (6-3) hurled a complete game shutout Friday in a 2-0 win versus the Miami Marlins with nine strikeouts while allowing three hits (only singles) and no walks on the evening. Along with his first career complete-game shutout Sanchez has been incredible as of late. He accrued a 2.03 ERA in May and followed that up with a 1.61 ERA in June. The two months combined have lowered his season ERA from 3.68 to 2.41 on the season and now lies sixth in the league in the category. The southpaw will look to roll over his dominance to July with a matchup against the Chicago Cubs next week.
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cristopher Sanchez struck out nine batters in a complete-game shutout at home against the division-rival Miami Marlins on Friday night, picking up his sixth win of the year. Sanchez was brilliant on Friday, striking out Marlins first baseman Josh Bell to complete his three-hit shutout in the ninth inning and secure the Phillies' 2-0 win against the Marlins. Over his last 10 starts, the 27-year-old Dominican left-hander is 5-0 with an amazing 1.83 ERA and 50:11 K:BB in 64 innings out of Philly's rotation during this stretch. Fantasy managers should feel confident about deploying Sanchez in his next projected appearance at Wrigley Field on Thursday against the struggling Chicago Cubs.
Philadelphia Phillies starter Cristopher Sanchez scattered three hits across seven scoreless innings during Sunday's 4-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. He struck out four batters without issuing a walk. It was the eighth quality start of the season for the 27-year-old and improved his record to 5-3. He now owns a 2.67 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 70:24 K:BB through 84 1/3 innings. Most impressively, Sanchez has only allowed one home run in his 15 starts. He is a top-50 fantasy starter heading into a promising matchup against the Miami Marlins next week.
The Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Cristopher Sanchez finalized a four-year contract extension on Saturday that includes option years to buy out his arbitration years. The deal gives the Phillies additional control. The 27-year-old southpaw wouldn't have been eligible for arbitration until 2026 after being in Triple-A last year. In his four season in the big leagues in 2024, Sanchez is having his best year, going 4-3 with a 2.91 ERA (2.54 FIP) and 1.36 WHIP with 66 strikeouts and 24 walks in 77 1/3 innings pitched over his 14 starts. Fantasy managers probably wouldn't mind more punchouts -- he only has a 20.3% strikeout rate after posting a career-high 24.2% strikeout rate last year -- but you can't really argue with the results to this point. Sanchez is now in Philly for the long haul.
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cristopher Sanchez turned in his best start of the season in Tuesday's 10-1 win over the Blue Jays. Sanchez pitched seven innings, allowing one run on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts. The 27-year-old hasn't had the most exciting start to the season, but he is now 2-3 with a 3.22 ERA, an 8.42 K/9 rate, and a 3.72 BB/9 rate in seven starts and 36 1/3 IP. He will look to build on his success in his next scheduled start, which will be a decent matchup at a middling Mets lineup.
